  1. Most accurate prediction in forum history…
  2. It’s hard to tell anything about how they’ll finish next year anyway because of that whole “other teams” factor. Toronto has a crazy young core that might continue to improve. Vlad Jr. is less than a year older than Tristan Casas. Not so sure he’s peaked already…
  3. They could take 4th with 88-89 wins, which is just a handful shy of the total of the first place teams in 2016 and 2017 (each won 93)…
  4. I know I brought him up, but I just asked if he had an NTC. Apparently JD does, which reduces the likelihood of moving him anyway. No idea if Bradley does, but I’d love him back as a fourth OF if it was at all possible, which I doubt…
  5. And he possibly had nothing to do with it. Or he was rubbing it in because he didn’t listen to the fans and end up as one of them…
  6. It would certainly take the edge off the disappointment…
  7. .. which he also likely doesn’t read. There’s a saying in the professional sports world common among coaches and executives - “don’t listen to the fans or you’ll wind up becoming one of them.”
  8. It is possible the team held off on spending heavily for 2021 because any contribution from Sale was unknown, and, as we have seen, he is a very important piece…
  9. Your post was about JBJ wanting to come back. You even mentioned him by (nick)name…
  10. Also I’d be a bit hesitant to say we advised Bloom last season on anything. I would say with nearly 100% certainty he isn’t even aware of this one little Red Sox forum amongst a sea of similar ones across the expanse that is the World Wide Web. Or, to be more succinct - he doesn’t know we exist…
  11. Does he have a No Trade Clause? If not, he has no say. But I would agree this type of trade is not likely..,
  12. Just because he didn’t get a backup defensive CF type one time doesn’t mean he is 100% deadest opposed to the idea with a religious fervor. At Tampa, he did bring in players like Peter Bourjos and Mallex Smith to fill the role…
  13. I’d do it if Schwarber was on board. But would Milwaukee? If there’s no NL DH this year, they might not have a lot of use for him…
  14. You are correct. As it is apparently for $11 mill, he very likely stays. If Schwarber comes back to Boston, perhaps some sort of contract swap involving JDM and JBJ can happen. Probably need a third team and a few more parts (BTV has JDM’s value at 0.1, far and away ahead of JBJ’s -16.8.) Teams that might take the chance on JDM include Texas, KC, Philly (an obvious Dombrowski connection), and possibly Arizona (where JD became some sort of legend in his brief time there)..
  15. I don’t see Duran as a bench player. His MiLB career, years of control, and minimum salary make him better trade bait. The Sox can always sign some Jake Marisnick/Kevin Pillar/Delino DeShields type for a fourth outfielder. Maybe even bring back JBJ, who hasn’t done much this year to merit a big contract. I also think JDM is still a likely (but not definite) part of the team. So if Schwarber comes back, he either needs to learn 1b or Verdugo needs to learn CF. (Despite Monday’s horrific showcase, Verdugo still grades out slightly below average in CF, but at least not ridiculously incompetent.)
  16. Schwarber would be an easier fit if Verdugo could handle CF. Hernandez certainly graded out better in CF than anyone on the Sox, but also does very well at 2b by some metrics. He’s second in MLB in DRS at 2b since 2019 behind only Kolten Wong, who has about 1,000 more innings at the position. (Wong also owns about every defensive metric for second basemen.)
  17. One has to wonder if the “COVID-ravaged” Sox would even be allowed into Canada for games if they had any coming up…
  18. The Yankees have what should be an easy stretch coming up after today's game with Toronto. They have 3 atthe Mets, Minnesota for 1 game, 3 at Baltimore, and then 3 against Cleveland and Texas each at home. The Baltimore games might be the toughest, as the Yankees are only 9-7 against them this season...
  19. He might not even get that after 2022….
  20. Jack Lopez started 5 games for the Sox. The team went 4-1 in those games. Coincidence? Yeah, probably. That would explain it. I mean, the guy did have a .564 OPS…
  21. He might stand up, but he won’t run to cover first…
  22. I don’t think I’m going to miss ERod…
  23. The Jays are currently 12-14 vs Tampa and NY and are 8-4 vs Baltimore. If they came out of those 19 remaining games better than 10-9, it will be a big win for them…
  24. But as we already have Verdugo and Renfroe, not sure corner OF is the Sox biggest need. Now maybe they could acquire him for CF. It really comes down to the immediate future plans for Kike and Arroyo, although Arroyo has a nasty habit of taking himself out of those types of equations with his frequent IL trips…
