  1. Any team selecting Ward would either have to keep his injured arm on the active roster for all of 2022 knowing he is unable to pitch and preventing someone else who can from taking a roster spot, or they could put him on the 60 day IL and then activate him in July/August and then keep him in MLB until July/August 2023. At that point, they would own his rights. Seems like far too much for a pitcher with 6 innings above A ball…
  2. Nope. Makes it harder. In order to keep a Rule 5 selection, a player has to be on the ACTIVE roster aka the 26 man roster for a full season. Time on the IL doesn’t count…
  3. Ward is probably out until July or August of next year…
  4. The scheduled Orioles’ starters are Akin, Lowther, and Wells…
  5. Plus sometimes he wanted to get to second, but there was already another man there. Yes, I went there..
  6. I think you caught my drift…
  7. Nick Punto was one of the best defensive infielders in the past 20 years. But he was not loved by anyone except Ron Gardenhire and maybe Mrs. Punto. And even she complained he needed to get to second base more often…
  8. Or a little Stan Islozol…
  9. Just the Brain. Not Pinky, however…
  10. I only use evil mice, like the ones that scared away Sylvester and then tried to execute Porky Pig…
  11. Probably. Baseball revolves around stats and for non-pitchers, stats revolve around offense…
  12. Orlando Cabrera and Doug Mientkiewicz might not agree…
  13. No. Opens the door for too many “stool sample” jokes. I’m looking at you, mvp78…
  14. 1. Let’s use actual ghosts instead of real live runners. 2. Enforce the pitch clock. Any umpire found to be not enforcing it is subject to a fine (first offense), sterilization (second offense) and the beaten with a bag of wet mice (third offense). Fourth offenders just get fired. 3. Deadline fire sales are great for MLB. Agreed. 4. No roster expansion ever!! 5. I’m cool with cheat notes. Also - games are 9 innings weather permitting. No other exceptions. Lose the 3 batter minimum. Bring back Sunday double headers. Eliminate Luke Voit.
  15. He collided with a chair in the outfield. That’s how it all went downhill for him!!
  16. So don’t boo him…
  17. Schwarber tore up his knee in an outfield collision 5 years ago and has spent 8 innings behind the plate since…
  18. And Dalbec back to the mound…
  19. Baez is light years ahead of Bogie. But Baez is also willing to play 2b without whining..
  20. All true but I work with what I have. Of course if MLB adopts automated strike zones, a decent amount of catcher defense disappears. If Vazquez is out, which I do not think is likely, I would opt for Barnhart, whom I’ve always liked as a catcher…
  21. Or sign Baez to play 2nd in 2022 and if Bogaerts stays, you have a middle infield. If Bogie opts out, then it’s Baez at SS and Jeter Downs at 2b in 2023…
  22. If you like DRS, free-agents-to-be Manny Pina (34 years old) and Tucker Barnhart (31) rank among the top 4 catchers since 2019 (min 800 innings). Pina is credited with 1 more defensive run saved in significantly fewer innings…
  23. Yes. Semien is also FA. Reportedly Bloom was interested last year but Semien backed away because he learned Bloom was also talking to Kike. Apparently they share the same loud-mouthed agent…
  24. And then we also host the WC game…
  25. I would put it at 100% if he is moved, based on previous statements made about how he feels about the position. But it’s probably at like 95% if he stays at shortstop anyway…
