  1. True; main difference is homers. White Sox have 35 over the last 4 weeks (20 over the last 2 weeks). Red Sox are at 23 and 13.
  2. Banks is an opener. Probably his last inning. White Sox have the best ERA in the league over the last month or so; they’ve hit a bunch of solo homers (like yesterday) but overall their issue has been offense.
  3. Back when pitchers hit, one of the jobs of the 8th place hitter with 2 out was to do anything they could to get on and bring up the pitchers spot. At the very least, said pitcher ended the inning, allowing the leadoff guy to start the next inning. I guess Kike at least did that.
  4. How is trying to catch a ball with your face heroic? That’s what the glove is for;)
  5. Lots of righties vs. the left handed opener. May we’ll see Casas for Dalbec later on. Hamilton starting at catcher is no surprise.
  6. Would that be the same Jarren Duran who went 6-50 (.120) with 22 Ks from May 19-June 3? Absolutely Duvall needs to get going again, but sitting a guy on the bench for a bad 2 week stretch isn’t the way to make that happen.
  7. If you want to say Paxton and Sale are fragile, fine. They are. Both have a history of long spells on the IL. Duvall had a freak injury this season, but he has been on the IL a lot, so he could be considered fragile. If Devers pulls a hammy today and has to be sat on the IL for 10 or 15 days, is he fragile too? It's pro sports, players get hurt, sometimes in weird ways. Chang had a freak injury; he has no history of time on the injured list. As near as I can tell, the last time he might have been on it was his rookie year in 2019. Hamate bone injuries can take a long time to heal. Ditto McGuire. Freak injury, but one that has happened to many players. Again, a guy with no real injury history.
  8. There’s an adjective that applies to him, but decorum prevents me from using it.
  9. Paxton only going 4 stinks from an overall team point of view, but if he was hurt, it’s more in the line of bad luck. Since we don’t know when the soreness occurred, maybe they were luckythey got 4 out of him.
  10. It had a lot of English on it so it wasn’t routine, but it still needs to be made.
  11. It still made it a 4 out inning. It’s another play that, while not easy, needs to be made. White Sox defense handed the Sox a win last night; Red Sox defense returned the favor today.
  12. Not one they deserved to win either. Same old story, can’t hit with RISP. 1-8 today (Turner in the 9th) plus a sac fly. White Sox were 1-2.
  13. Caleb Hamilton? David is still at shortstop.
  14. Cora was never on the hook. It was obvious something was up with Paxton to have been pulled that early.
  15. White Sox broadcast saying right knee soreness.
  16. Yeah, the first part was. I look for what the pitcher is doing, what he’s throwing and where he putting it. Really, Lynn made one bad pitch today, to Casas. Even the walk to Devers had the look of either Rafael will get himself out or I’ll walk him. He should have been out of the inning on Arroyo. He was just really good today, commanded all of his pitches. almost nothing wasn’t on a edge or in a lot of cases, looked like a strike until the last partial second before dipping out of the zone ever so slightly. Ran out of gas.
  17. One good thing; Devers doesn’t seem to be flailing at everything. He’s been a bit more patient today.
  18. He’s mixing stuff up and putting the ball where he wants to with all 4 pitches. Let’s not pretend the Carmines are missing meatballs.
  19. Major league hitter hits a homer. Time to keel over. Offense is doing nothing with the “washed up hack” Lynn, who, like Giolito last night, is pitching a really good game.
  20. Which is fine, but what’s the deal today.
  21. Of course not. Context escapes them. I don’t get to see many games, but I can this weekend via the ChiSox broadcast. One thing I’m seeing is he’s looks like he’s trying to pull everything. More worried about why Paxton is out so soon.
  22. Winckowski warming up. Not a good sign with Paxton only at 63 pitches.
  23. Huh? Paxton. 3IP, 2H, 1R, 0BB, 3K Lynn. 3IP, 2H, 1R, 0BB, 2K Looks pretty even to me
