    I times one last night, it was 15-20 seconds to get to the mound, a 20 second conference (with the ump there for 10 of those) and then 20 seconds more to get back to the dugout. So basically a full minute.

    To me, it depends on how it happens. Belt high fastball down the middle? Sure. Guy dunks one the opposite way on a pitch 4 inches off the outside corner? No, that’s not disgusting.

    On the real negative side, Bradley looks like he has no-hit stuff tonight. Painting corners at 99 can make for a long day hitting.

    It’s the rule; you have to know. The one that surprises me is that they can’t switch positions without a substitution. Who cares as long as everyone is in a legal position.

    FWIW, he is hardly unique in that regard among major league players. I’d go so far as to say most do exactly what Devers did.

    Rafaela is probably 1st for guys hitting 9th. 16 from Duran isn't bad out of your leadoff guy. Putrid doesn't begin to describe the other 3.

    Dumb, yes. You can never assume the inning will play out the same, but at the end of it all, you still had Devers up with the bases loaded and he failed to even get the bat on the ball. Merloni called the 3-2 slider before it was thrown. “If he threw it 3-1, he’s going to throw it 3-2” or words to that effect.

    Actually, Short made 6 appearances on the mound for Detroit last year, totaling 6 innings. So I guess he takes Reyes' place as the blowout game pitcher.
