    Sox with the right handed line-up. No Duran or Casas. Alexander is an opener and a one inning type guy. The expected bulk guy is a righty, so Duran will be in a soon as Refsnyder’s slot comes up again. I could see them holding Casas until later

    Actually, the Dodgers aren’t paying the last two months salary. At the time of the trade, Kike had roughly $3.6M remaining on his contract. The Sox sent $2.5M to the Dodgers as part of the deal; LA is picking up the balance of $1.1M. You are right though, he was always ready to play and that counts for something.

    That I agree with. Great name. Frankly, I hate this name rights thing. I understand why it’s fine, but I don’t like it.

    I agree with the announcers; if that throw is actually on the base, Duran is safe. The throw literally hit Duran in the face as the fielder caught it. It’s actually the first time Duran has been thrown out by a catcher; his previous caught stealing occurred when he went as the pitcher threw to first and the throw from the first baseman beat him to second.

    This park was never called Candlestick. It’s been around about 25 years and IIRC, it was first called Pac-Bell Park. Candlestick did remain the home of the 49ers until maybe a decade ago, and it has since been torn town.

    It would be nice if Verdugo would come out of his funk. It’s not so much the results; his body language at the plate is terrible. Have to wonder if lack of any progress on a contract extension might be affecting him. He also hasn’t been the same since he went on that bereavement leave just before the All-Star break.

    Here are his slashlines as a pitcher and DH. P: .214/.323/.464/.787 with 3 homers. DH: .272/.360/.556/.916 with 158 homers He's actually got very few plate appearances as outside of DHing. Only 65 as a pitcher and about 60 as an OF or PH. He's got 2595 PAs as a DH. The numbers from OF/PH would skew his non-pitching slash up slightly, but not by much. I have no idea how many of the DH numbers are from when he stayed in after being taken out after pitching, but since that rule allowing that has only been around a couple years, it can't be too many. Suffice to say, there is a huge difference.

    He might well be at this point. Reyes isn’t a blazer. Not going to use Refsnyder there; no sense using him and just end up putting Arroyo in the game for D anyway.
