You have to play it that way. Sometime in the 90s, the O’s and Jays were in a deciding playoff game. It went extra innings (old rules) and the O’s manager never used his closer (who had been virtually unhittable all year) to keep him ready for a save opportunity that never came. Jays hit a walk off homer of some other reliever to win the series.

Because he’s a professional ball player. Unlike you, he’s not a quitter.

They’re explosive in the sense they have a lot of guys besides Judge and Soto who can hit the long ball, especially in that bandbox. But they are not a pesky team that’s going to gum you to death.

There was no discussion. It was just Fred posting his tired tripe attempting to stir things up. He probably also babbled something about “Little League defense” as if the players from 20 or 30 or 40 years ago never made an error or a boneheaded play.

Crawford with a solid 6 innings. I’ll take that from a starter every time out. First homer was a wind blown fluke. Second one was powdered. 1 run very seldom gets you a win. Too many K’s by Sox hitters. Let’s hope they can get to the O’s pen.

Abreu may or may not figure out lefties, but with all of 65 MLB PAs against them in his career, it’s a bit early to make the statement that he’s not a good fit. His minor league stats don’t show nearly the disparity as his limited major league ones do.

Every hit this inning opposite field or up the middle. There’s a lesson there.

Both unearned. The error started the inning (1 out). Valdez’s good play would have been the second out and the fly to center that moved Roberts to 3rd would have ended the inning (I.e., the chopper that scored him doesn’t happen).

As bad as they are, they still win 1 out of 5 games on average.

Story got a decent jump. That White Sox catcher combines a strong arm and a quick release. He’s really good in that aspect of the game; Red Sox have now seen that up close. That should stop the running game for today.
