  1. Here’s my lineup tomorrow: 1B Slaten 2B Weissert SS Kelly 3B Watson LF Samaniego CF Rafaela RF Abreu C Gasper P Tolle No DH. This lineup can’t do much worse than the regulars have been doing offensively. Abreu, Rafaela and Gasper play because they at least hit the ball most of the time.
  2. Ever since he hit the 2 homers in 3 games, he’s been crap. He was going to left more and now looks like he’s trying to pull everything again.
  3. The booing on Early’s toss to first reminded me I heard quite a few last night near the end of the game. They were sort of drowned out by Philly fans, but they were definitely audible.
  4. That ball fooled Cedanne. He looked like he had a beat on it and it just kept carrying. I think if he gets to the wall a little quicker, he goes more straight up and takes the homer away.
  5. I can understand being picked off by a lefty. There’s virtually no excuse for it happening with a righty on the mound.
  6. Hit one over the fence and go clockwise around the bases? Okay, the first half of that sentence is pure fantasy.
  7. Nah. SBF could never write posts that take longer to read than War and Peace.
  8. You mean soft law is Old Red? Because I definitely see resemblance.
  9. Except TYPM is the ultimate Breslow apologist. Or maybe I should have said was; I don’t think he’s posted since the day Cora was fired. Too bad, because he definitely provided comic relief.
  10. Luzardo has been wildly inconsistent this year. Tonight was his 9th start. In the previous 8: In 4 games totaling 24 2/3 innings, he’s allowed 4 runs (all earned) and 20 hits for a 1.46 ERA In the other 4 games totaling 19 innings, he’s allowed 26 runs (24 earned) and 26 hits for a 12.32 ERA. He had no average games this year; he’s either been great or he’s been terrible. I’m not saying he was great tonight, but the Sox needed terrible guy to show up to have a chance and he didn’t.
  11. See my post above about Mayer’s use under Tracy. It may not be a complete 180 from his use under Cora, but there’s a galaxy of difference. And let’s be realistic, it’s not like he setting the world on fire against pitchers of any side arm.
  12. Hasn’t really been the case with Tracy at the helm. The Sox have played 15 games under Chad. Mayer has started 13 of them, played in 14 and played the complete game 12 times. He was lifted for a pinch hitter one time. Yes. both times he didn’t start it was against a lefty (one was the Framber game) and he was pinch hit for against a lefty. But he has faced multiple southpaws under Tracy and has handled them pretty well. It certainly isn’t automatic that he sits against a goofysider like it was under Cora. Given his injury history, maybe they give him one day off a week in ann effort to keep him available all year.
  13. Yep. Also finished Sunday’s game pitching 1 1/3 innings. But he only threw 16 pitches so it’s probably not a big deal.. It’s a lefty righty thing for sure.
  14. Starters in the minors pitch once a week(6 days rest). This is mostly because minor league teams play 6 game sets against one opponent Tuesday through Sunday. All Mondays are a day off. So moving to the 4 days rest is a big adjustment for them.
  15. Maybe it was at the corner bar and you had your headphones on listening to sports radio?
  16. Tampa didn’t look like the team the Sox played in Detroit either. Unfortunately, the Rays are hot right now.
  17. Trying to get a 3rd inning out of Watson was not a great idea, especially against the heart of the Rays lineup, but then, who do you use? The number 5-8 guys in the pen are spotty to be charitable, and you don’t use 1-4 (if available) when trailing
  18. And he was the one saying the youngsters weren’t holding their end up?
  19. I wouldn't read too much into it. Slow starts are not new to him; his numbers in April have never been great, though these are below his career norms for the month.
  20. He wanted out of the game and hitting Story was the way to do it. Pretty obvious when it happened and even moreso when he just nodded to ump the after the ejection.
  21. He has hit the ball in the air. But when he does, flying insects over the infield are also in danger.
  22. He struck out the side. Tigers BABiP is 1.000. How did they morph Bello into Moran’s body?
