Cringe away, but Rutschman can’t and shouldn’t play everyday, and Gasper is not a major league catcher. Wong’s going to play 1 out of 5 games. Adley has been poor from the right side, so a lefty starter is as good a reason as any to start Wong tonight.

Magic number to clinch a playoff berth is down to 3 over either Toronto or Texas. It's down to 1 for the other one because they play each other this weekend and one has to lose twice. It's at 2 to eliminate the Orioles from overtaking them.

Is Tracy all of sudden doing something different now than he was doing a month and a half ago. Seems to me he exhibited the same energy of a sloth with a lobotomy during the 32-5 streak that he is showing now.

The law of averages for one thing. They went what, 32-5? That’s impossible to keep up. This series it looks like they’ve run into a team that is gotten into a hot streak. Every bloop drops in for them, the few hard hit balls against them seem to go right at somebody, they get a break and take advantage of it. Over the course of 6 months, those things even out. In a 3 game series, anything can happen. It’s not always who you play but when you play them. Plus the AAAA players who were doing so well then have come back to earth.

Very possible, though they already have won as many games this month as they did all of that year (they went 7-20 in 2011, they’re 7-7 so far this September). The pitching absolutely imploded 15 years ago. I think the ERA for September was close to 6 for the staff. That was the month Daniel Bard began his descent. Many think it was the next year when he tried to be a starter, but it was actually that September when he blew I don’t know how many games.

That would actually be better. You’d get either the Central or West champ in the wild card round followed by the other non-East champ in the ALDS..

What’s he supposed to do? Very little hard contact. Tough to manufacture runs if no one’s on base. Not like there’s been a lot of at’em balls to build on.
