  1. I assume you meant that for me. Honest answer, I don’t know. I just don’t follow everyone the way I used to; I only see them against the Sox.
  2. You can tell the Sox are winning. Very short game thread.
  3. Well, if he isn’t at the top of the list, he’d certainly be in the top 3. Witt did briefly tie Duran for the triples lead last night. Duran took care of that within an hour.
  4. Yep, and that’s certainly true when drafting high schoolers. The only exception would be a lefty, and he’d be playing center as an amateur. As the best athletes on the field, virtually all of them pitched in high school at least some of the time. College draftees are a little different, since most big time programs have a few players who will play at least in the low minors, so they get spread out the field.
  5. Okay. They may be correct. I can’t think of anyone for that particular combination (if Mookie plays several years at short for the Dodgers, he could be one, but he mostly played right field)
  6. I don’t think Yount went back and forth between the two though. He was either the Brewers ss or their cf.
  7. Oh s***. The last thing this team needs is Devers out for a period of time. Edit - he stays in the game.
  8. A fib isn’t a joke; if it acts up in altitude, it does. This is a game. It’s not worth someone’s health or worse. A few years ago, the Steelers had a DB who had something similar. They just didn’t take him to games in Denver.
  9. The other night, I mentioned the 2015 season, when the Sox went into the ASB pretty hot. They started in LA against the Angels after the break, got swept in a 4 game set and then got swept again in a 3 game series in Houston. This starting to resemble deja vu.
  10. Well, Fred and the Stork have to be thrilled by this weekend
  11. What they were doing is not sustainable.
  12. Anyone else get the impression Wroblewski was pitching around Duran to get to O’Neill?
  13. Ref at least gave a decent AB and fouled off a bunch. Wroblrwski FB looks like it has some late movement, at least today.
  14. Didn’t matter, he was out by 3 feet. Not a good play with then 2 outs and Raffy coming up. He’ll learn.
  15. Weaver didn’t manage in the current 4 man bench world though (one of whom is your backup catcher). I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it, but it’s not as simple to do these days.
  16. It can, but whether a particular loss does that will only be known after the fact. In this case, should the Sox pre-ASB mo turn, was it this loss or was it the ASB?
  17. Wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened to a player. It can do that to players and teams. 9-10 years ago the Sox went into the ASB a pretty hot club; after the break they started on the West Coast against the Angels and proceeded to get swept in a 4 game set, scoring 4-5 runs total. Then they went somewhere else and got swept again, effectively ending the season for them. Let’s hope we’re not going to see a repeat.
  18. Freeman had a lot of timely big hits against the Sox when he was with the Braves. He hasn’t lost the touch.
  19. Been a long time since I umped, but I’m pretty sure that the rubber is considered part of the ground, so the situation you described would not be an out. You may be thinking about a ball hitting a base that is caught on the fly; that is an out (home plate is the exception, that is also part of the ground).
  20. Stone with a kick save and a beauty it was.
  21. It’s even worse when you dig deeper into it. 22 of his RBIs have come on his 16 home runs (12 of those are solo shots). He’s only driven home 9 runs all year on anything besides a homer. That is mind boggling.
  22. You would have hated watching Bill Lee pitch a game then.
  23. Are they worse than they used to be? Or is the imposition of the box making it appear that they are?
  24. Refusal to even try and use the wall at Fenway might just be why he’s Lefty Joe Lunchpail. With one exception, successful Red Sox lefties have learned to use the wall, and that outlier was a different animal than almost anyone who ever swung a bat.
