  1. Question on Pedroia’s contract and the luxury tax limits. What happens if he retires? Does the reason for retirement make a difference? I recall a few years ago that when Dempsey retired, the Sox got salary relief. But that was a voluntary decision by Dempster. If Pedroia is medically forced to retire, is it treated differently?
  2. Also have to remember ERod was next up in the rotation. While overall he has been pretty good this season, a manager still has to figure he’s going to need at least 3 pen innings in any Rodriguez start. Could have been part of Cora’s thinking.
  3. Yep. When balls hit the base and carom right to a fielder, it’s definitely your night.
  4. Cruz needs to hit the deck tomorrow; he is waaay too comfortable up there.
  5. Incorrect. He pitched in 1 game in 1940, allowing 1 run on 3 hits over 2 innings. It was his only appearance on the mound.
  6. Natick really needs to learn the value of an unexpressed thought.
  7. I would argue that JD’s hand was pushed off the base with the glove.
  8. Maybe these guys ought to slide feet first. The feet/ankles are built to take a lot more abuse than the hand/wrist.
  9. Definitely not sharp. He’s limited the damage though; Mariners have taken advantage of a couple of cheap choppers.
  10. Yep. I don’t think there are any local broadcasts if Fox has the game.
  11. He didn’t get one.
  12. Has to be in response to Bogaerts' finger.
  13. It is very odd for somebody who feels the need to throw the word racist around like its candy at a Shriner's parade could him self be labeled a sexist due to the nature of his avatars over the years (both here and on the Board That Shall Not Be Named).
  14. Dumb play by Devers, not aggressive, just dumb. He's being talked to in the dugout, which I'm glad to see.
  15. Kimbrel hasn't pitched since a week ago yesterday, he needs the work. Keeping Kelly in also means he wont; be available tomorrow.
  16. Another example of why you just can't throw anyone over there. Those plays CAN make a difference, and they are not learned by talking a few grounders during infield.
  17. The strength and true depth of this team is starting pitching so in a one game scenario you are going to go with a failed starter? Joe McCarthy lives.
  18. Actually, there is a 30 day wait on re-signing a released player. I think Hanley was technically released on June 1st, so they couldn't re-sign him until July 1 at the earliest. And Kimmi has it correct, there is zero chance of Dombrowski taking him back (and zero chance that Hanley would come back to Boston.)
  19. I’d have Swihart hit for Leon this inning and catch the 9th.
  20. With the score now 8-0, manager me brings in a couple of backenders to finish up. Workman and Scott come to mind.
  21. Okay all you arm chair managers. Do you send Porcello out for the 8th? He’s at 98 pitches. If not, who are you bringing in? Call it ahead of time. I do bring him back because it’s been an easy 98 pitches since the second inning, and I like to see a guy finish what he started.
  22. 9 for 1. Yeah , that oughta work.
  23. Minnesota could get more for Dozier. Plus they are only 5 1/2 behind the Guardians; they won’t be in sell mode yet and if they play like they did the 2nd half last year, they won’t be.
