  1. Certainly has seemed to since that triple play last year.
  2. IMO, he needs to get back to 2 pitches, fastball and one other. He's a 1-2 inning guy, he doesn't need 4 like a starter.
  3. I had no problem with him starting the inning against the bottom of the order. But given the conditions, they needed to have somebody up and ready at the first sign of trouble.
  4. I know you wouldn't, I'm saying what I think will happen. They are not rife with options right now.
  5. At the very least the Sox are 10-2 against the O's. Would you rather be the Yankees, who are 5-5?
  6. Pomeranz is going to get another couple of starts , but they aren't going to go much more than that if he doesn't show something.
  7. The problem is Velazquez is not stretched out.
  8. Unless this is a shower, this game is ovah.
  9. The walk was the killer. Beckhem is hitting about .290 against lefties. Problem right now is that who takes the #5 spot. Johnson is servceable. Velazquez hasn't gone more than 2 or 3 innings since very early in the season and Beeks really hasn't shown much, and at the same time they are trying to keep Sales IPs down. Still, Remy is right, should have had Thornburg up and warming to start the inning. This game ain't going 9, it may not get to the 6th.
  10. Sox starting pitching since the All Star Break: 23 1/3 IP 17 H 2 R 0 ER 2 BB 25 K
  11. Kimbrel's got nothing tonight.
  12. Ever have to listen to those clowns; they deserve every bit of derision we can muster.
  13. To the O's announcers I would say two things: Scoreboard. Standings.
  14. If Phillips is close to ready, I really would consider sending Devers down for a couple weeks. Physical mistakes are one thing, but he's made several mental ones recently as well. He needs to realize being in the majors is not a right.
  15. It was a balk. Porcello dipped his front shoulder ever so slightly just before time was called.
  16. For whatever reason, it seems like Gausman is either very good against the Sox or very bad. There is seldom a 6 inning 3 run type game for him against Boston. He either gets bombed or he throws a shutout.
  17. Heard about it; twas a little before my time.
  18. Exactly. I didn’t look at the tweets and I’m not going to (no desire to and Twitter is stupid IMO anyway). Sounds like they happened when Hader was in high school. If so, I ask the condemners would you want to be held responsible now for something stupid you said at 16 or 18 years old? And please don’t deny you (not you specifically Harmony, you generically) didn’t because everyone does. If he said them a month or even a year or 2 ago different story.
  19. Did 49% vote for Trump or did 49% vote against Hillary? Frankly the choice we had sucked both ways; there were a lot of people who voted against the other candidate. Caveat - I did vote but I didn’t vote for either one of them.
  20. Holt can’t play every day; he wears down. Besides, it appears Brandon Phillips is getting close. He’s not the all-star he once was but he will be a upgrade defensively at 2nd.
  21. And if he's not the best, he certainly is in the conversation. Mickey Stanley not withstanding, you don't move gold glove outfielders to the infield (and Stanley was pretty much a desperation move). We KNOW what Betts can do in right (and even center). We have no idea how he would be at 2nd. I'm sure he'd be passable, but he hasn't played but a handful of games there since he came up, and a pennant race is no time to experiment.
  22. If the Sox are still in a dogfight with the Yankees (and does anyone think they aren’t going to be?), they won’t have the luxury of taking a look at anyone in September.
  23. No; if he done that he would have just kept on running to 3rd.
