  1. Back when was a kid and cholesterol hadn’t been invented, I loved dipping fries into mayo/tarter sauce. I have avoid all of that these days.
  2. Holt has shown a tendency to wear down; his 2nd half numbers have been considerably worse than his 1st half ones. Maybe Cora is trying to avoid that? Especially if they know more about Pedey’s condition than they are letting on.
  3. My point was more that 3 months and a year ago the same people were hating Holt and now he’s the fair haired boy.
  4. I see Nunez is the new “hated” player here. Of course, last year and this spring many of the same “knowledgeable” fans wanted to DFA or send Holt down.
  5. More likely to hit them tomorrow; second day of a trip is always the toughest.
  6. He would only receive the pro-rated minimum from his new club; he still gets paid $22M for the 2018 season whether he plays or not. the Red Sox pay whatever difference there is.
  7. Sabathia of the past few years doesn’t seem to either but he is effective.
  8. 2 runs on the board; I just hope Sale can stand the prosperity.
  9. Since he seems to have the attitude of I’ve always done it this way, maybe somebody needs to ask him “Do you remember the guys who got you out in high school and college? Those are the guys we signed”.
  10. O’s having some tough ABs this inning; probably take an extra inning away from Sale later in this game.
  11. He’s not. He has a role and plays his role well but a regular he is not.
  12. So you didn’t like the guy playing with/through a couple of concussions. Amazing what healing up can do for a player. Remember, though, Holt has a history of less than stellar 2nd half’s.
  13. Heard an interesting stat about Kimbrel the other day; I think it was from the White Sox broadcasters: Kimbrel has more career saves than hits allowed (confirmed via Baseball Reference, 312 saves, 270 hits allowed over his 9 year career)
  14. Kimbrel does not get a save. He came in with a 4 run lead. All he gets tonight is a game finished. Big factor tonight IMO was the 25 or so pitches he threw last night. With 30+ tonight, he will not be available tomorrow. Sale will have to give some innings tomorrow. He usually does, but with the pen throwing roughly 9 innings the past 2 nights, they could use a break. Better yet, the Sox score a ton of runs so the back part of the pen could be used.
  15. Aw c’mon, I’m over the Larry Barnett call. Okay, not really.
  16. Are the Mets playing that or do the Braves have to carry most of the freight. The Mets signed him for the minimum I believe.
  17. Personally, I think the clubhouse in 2011 and 2012 was so disfunctional that nobody “fit in”; there was nothing to fit into. It didn’t bubble over until Aug 2011 but I think the issues were there all year. As for the 3 players I mentioned, one thing they all have in common is an infectious personality. All three are extremely outgoing and people just tend to like them. We all know people who are like that.AGon always struck me as an introverted guy who would just as soon come to the park, get his work in, play the game and then shower and go home (JD Drew was a player who was even more that way; Yaz may be the ultimate example in Red Sox lore). A quiet personality who people don’t just automatically gravitate to. And I think Max is right, AGon was the cost of the Dodgers taking Crawford.
  18. . So if you know the sub-text, how come David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez are beloved by Red Sox fans? Or Luis Tiant?
  19. Actually it’s too early. By rule they have to wait 30 days before resigning him. (I totally realize your question was tongue in cheek).
  20. Well I remember Bob Uecker (or was it Joe Garagiola?) saying their manager used to give them the take sign on 3-2
  21. Have you been watching JBJ this year?
  22. Yep. He's nice as a 6-7 hitter, maybe in the 5 hole once in a while; he should not be hitting 3-4.
  23. Right now they aren't even getting good swings. Utter meltdown offensively.
  24. Agree. The White Sox are young but I think they are going to improve as the season goes on. The O's have nothing; everyone talsk about them selling off everything remotely of value they have.
  25. Workman only pitched to one batter; he's an okay choice.
