    All this after 1 game? Swihart I can see, but Nunez? Right now Devers is no lock to be on the postseason roster. He’s going to have to earn it this month. Cora has said as much said so.

    Decades? Maybe a decade. Seems to me the 12 man staff began about 10 years ago. Before that, it was typically an 11 man staff. When I was a kid half a century ago, 10 man staffs (and 4 man rotations) were the norm.

    The only way Pomeranz sees the mound is if the Sox are DOWN by a dozen runs and he can save the rest of the pen (ala Wakefield in Game 3 in 2004).

    I'm guessing Scott and Poyner to finish up the last 2 innings, so at least none of the main pen will be used.

    The thing is he was halfway decent for August. 5 pretty good outings (unscored on, maybe a walk or a hit allowed), 2 blah (a couple runs in 4 innings) and a Houdini performance last time out (4 innings, 7 hits but no runs). Nothing great, but far better than earlier in the year. Today, he had absolutely nothing.

    Pomeranz can take the pounding for a couple innings. Then its Cuevas and the rest of the callups time.

    Bad play by Moreland (take the out) and worse play by JBJ (had no shot at Acuna). And who was wanting Pomeranz in the first inning after 6 pitches?

    Has nothing to do with firing a team up and everything to do with several regulars look tired and this gives them 2 full days off.

    Right, because Pomeranz is certainly warmed up after Valaquez has thrown 6 pitches. Vaz is going to have to eat some innings today. At least get through his spot in the batting lineup.

    Day game after a night game, Vaz needs PT to see what he has and Leon is on fumes right now anyway.

    Yep; the more guys you trot out there, the more likely it is one of them won't have it on a given night.

    He is not an everyday player and it is showing in his hitting right now. He was doing okay when he was playing a couple times a week.

    Nunez's out was the killer; he has to make better contact there. I don't know what JBJ has done to piss off the umps, but he gets rung up on more borderline pitches than anyone I've ever seen. And he NEVER says anything to the ump, so you know that had to be a really bad call.

    Luckily for the Sox, he didn't do much yesterday. He was up with multiple guys on every time up and only came up with a sac fly.

    A good piece of hitting by Suzuki. Pretty good pitch by Porcello; it was down and away. He got away with one the previous pitch, however, as Suzuki fouled off one right down the middle.

    Two balls smoked and a drive to the wall all for outs. Pearce gets a single on a 27 hopper. That's baseball.

    Well, he got hit a couple times over the weekend.

    He did? His line score was 3 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 4 BB and 4 Ks. Sox didn't score on him until the 3rd, but they obviously had chances before that with that number of runners on.
