  1. Wasn't exactly roped, just hit in a good spot (from Duda's POV).
  2. Sale needs to learn to pitch to some contact, especially with big leads. Trying to strike everyone out does not help his stamina late in the year.
  3. Well, that double will remove the issue of a possible no-hitter factoring in.
  4. The Royals were never a Yankee farm club. The old Kansas City Athletics on the other hand ...
  5. It’s a “what if the Red Sox were in Miami Marlins mode” fantasy piece. Not meant to be serious.
  6. Sounds like a wonderful day. We had tentative plans to take in a game tonight at our local minor league park but with heat indices headed for 105 into the early evening, that's not happening. We had our main fireworks display here last night; they fire them up from a couple of barges on the Mississippi River. Great show. Unfortunately, it was a tragic event for one group of people. They were watching the show when a large tree limb from an old oak came down (no wind, it just decided it was time). One person was killed and five others injured. Definitely puts everything in perspective (I didn't see it, it was a few blocks away). Be safe and have fun everyone.
  7. Agree. He has a presence back there; he’s running the game. Vazquez has more talent but he never looks in charge.
  8. He probably could use a day off. He's played in 82 of the 86 games, and at least a couple of the misses were very early in the season.
  9. Their midweek crews are okay. Eduardo Perez (in the booth tonight) does a nice job. I have always enjoyed Herschiser on the Wednesday game. Both offer decent player insights and pick up on little things.
  10. Votto is a 10-5 guy; he goes nowhere unless he wants to, and everything I’ve read indicates he LOVES playing in Cincinnati.
  11. Really sad thing is the 11 runs last night might not be enough in this one.
  12. LOL doesn’t apply to Natick. A very sad shaking of the head perhaps.
  13. Thankfully only 12. Yankees won’t bat in the 9th.
  14. Haley is the last guy in the pen. What he allows or doesn’t allow at this point is utterly irrelevent.
  15. If I’m Cora there is no way Price EVER throws another pitch in Yankee Stadium. His turn comes up again, I’ll start Johnson or Velasquez or maybe Moreland at pitcher before Price.
  16. Price can pitch all 8 tonight as far as I’m concerned.
  17. Well, the way Severino is dealing it means get not be the worst time idea, even as good as the Yankee pen is.
  18. Yes it was. Still, Lester never came back with a counter, even an absurdly high one. His comments about “home town discount” were just words; he was going to free agency unless the Sox made a Stanton like contract offer.
  19. Not living in New England, I was forced to endure the MLB Network telecast Friday with Costas and Kaat. As I wrote the other day, Kaat is okay; he offers someinsight and isn't a cheerleader. Costas cannot hide the fact that grew up as and still is a Yankee fan. Ther fact that it was a blowout didn't make it any better, but Bob is just as bad in a close game. He has slipped appreciably in recent years.
  20. He's in the Sox hitters heads at this point, and he is utterly confident. The point of bunting (I mean for base hits, not sacrifices) is to make him do something he hates to do, whcih is field them. Maybe it throws him off a little. There was a game a few years ago when a couple Sox hitters did bunt on him and he was visibly mad about it. That being said, it's a moot point so far as Red Sox hitters are concerned, because none of them can bunt. Moreland has done it for base hits against the shift a few times over the last couple seasons, that's about it.
  21. As I said last night, they need to try and get him off his game. I don’t think anyone on the team can do it, but bunt on him, CC hates that. He is totally confident against Boston (with good reason) and frankly, I think he’s in their heads.
  22. It had nothing to do with being tired. It had everything to do with a pitcher who knows how to pitch and hitters who refuse to alter their approach to him, making said pitcher’s job easier.
  23. I would love to see Mookie and Benintendi learn to bunt; throw a couple down against CC (who HATES it when teams do that to him) and throw him off his game a little. Not tonight, but next time they see him.
