  1. True, but your team remains the only one ever in MLB history to blow a 3-0 lead in a 7 game series (and really it was a 3.88 to 0 lead). So you got that going for you.
  2. I'm hard pressed to think of a collapse greater than that of the 1964 Phiilies, who blew a 6 1/2 game lead with 12 to play.
  3. Yep. Then the winners move on to the NLDS while the losers play Tuesday in the NL Wild Card Game with the winner of that starting the NLDS on Thursday. Crazy week with lots of potential travel for one team.
  4. Yes, he challenged the 4th run on whether the runner touched the plate and lost (borderline call but likely not enough to overturn). Swihart dropped the throw for the next run (runner had been called out). Sox could have been out of that inning only 3 runs down with a break and a play.
  5. What do the Orioles' have in return? He's not going to get you much.
  6. No idea, but it fools absolutely no one. He stands up so early that hitters know it's coming, and it is almost never a competitive pitch (just out of the zone). It's a ball from the moment it leaves the pitcher's hand, therefore it isn't even setting something else up. Leon calls for those pitches, but he usually just lifts the target a little higher rather than standing up. What I don't get it there is nothing sacred about using the glove as the target. A pitcher can throw to a knee or a shoulder or a whatever. All that's required is that the catcher knows that's where it's going.
  7. I'm worried; Sale is topping out at around 92-93, he's not throwing very many fastballs and his command is not that good. Hopefully the second inning shows a little more.
  8. Game off; you’re going to see a lot of odd line ups the final 4 games. Probably a spring training type atmosphere where the regulars will get an at bat or 2 a game and then the reserves take over as much as possible.
  9. Kelly may very well be in tryout mode at this point, and he is doing everything he can to be left off the postseason roster.
  10. Kelly has a million dollar arm and a ten cent head. He is a thrower (not a pitcher) who literally has no idea how to pitch. He's been around long enough he should know the difference.
  11. No, Leon needs days off, which he should get this week.
  12. It's not about this game; Vazquez needs the ABs.
  13. Nice work, but you only have 24 guys listed, so Swihart could be on with no other "decision" to be made in the pen. Not sure I agree with Velazquez. I don't see him giving you anything that ERod or Eovaldi can't give you out if the pen, and realistically, he's been doing a Houdini act most of the season. I think you will see Kelly in that slot; despite his woes, he at least has the potential to get you out of a jam (and yes, he is just as likely to throw gas on the fire, I get that); Velazquez just doesn't have that type of stuff.
  14. The midweek guys (Jon Sciambi and Dave Fleming on PBP, Eduardo Perez and Hercheiser on color) are fine. They stick with baseball and baseball related observations almost all the time and are pretty even handed about praise and criticism. I agree the Sunday night crew is insufferable, espcially ERod who can't shut up.
  15. Small assist from Devers set up the inning. Still, Pom has to pitch through that tougher than he did.
  16. Sanchez (NYY) is is hitting .184 and giving Leon a good run for his money on that.
  17. Why would anyone watch those clowns?
  18. Price wasn’t horrible tonight, but his style (throwing away to right handed hitters) just doesn’t play well at Yankee Stadium. 3 really cheap homers that went what, 950 feet total?
  19. Exactly, and there could have been obstruction called (ala Middlebrooks in the 2013 WS)
  20. What’s his numbers the 3rd time through the line-up? He was showing signs of laboring in the 6th.
  21. Not satisfied with 103-47. There are some here that wouldn’t be happy with 162-0. There are some who seem to thing they should win every inning of every game.
  22. You are certainly an expert on the subject.
  23. The offense hasn’t exactly helped out; they had 3 chances against Happ and got 1 unearned run out of them.
  24. Could see that coming a mile away
