Why not; I’m sure he’ll give all the consideration it deserves. Too early to do it; you want JBJ or Moreland up in the 8th instead of JD?

Need somebody who can at least go 2-3 innings. Cashner’s not available. Plus the past few games, Johnson’s issues have been in the first inning he pitches, then he’s okay for a couple. Have to hope that pattern continues tonight.

If you are so miserable watching the modern game, why do continue to do so? I’m not thrilled with many aspects of it either, but I don’t feel the need to make every post about it.

Hate to put a damper on that thought, but the A's won 97 games and made the playoffs a year ago, pulling away from Tampa to do so. They've been in this exact situation before.

Mata is a 20 year old kid who has pitched all of 9 games at AA and hasn’t been all that good that that level yet. Yes he has potential but no way is he ready for a call up.

He did sort of blow up in game 7, but it was on 2 days rest while Gibson was on his normal 3 days. Lonborg did throw a 1 hit shutout in game 2 and followed that up with a 3 hit complete game in game 5.

Nice try, but you really should do better research before attempting such humor. First Cousin marriage is allowed in 24 states, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, California and your own New Jersey. The Dakota’s are not among the 24.

What does any of this have to do with the Game Thread. In other words, KNOCK IT OFF.

Betts did not play on May 5 and June 14. He did not start games on April 7 or August 11, though he came in late in the game. So basically, he’s not starting 1 game a month. Bogaerts did not play on April 3, May 1, May 26, July 6 and August 6. He’s had no games where he came in late. Again, about once a month. Devers did not play on May 24, June 9, June 23 and August 10. He did not start April 4, April 23 (Game 1), June 21 and June 22. He came out after 5 innings on June 19 and the Sox had an off day on June 20, so the June 19-23 games are when he had his hamstring issue. He also wasn’t exactly crushing it in April, so a couple of those early ones may have been matchups. Beni has sat out a few games vs. southpaws and they kept him out of the lineup several times around the All-Star break when he was in a total funk at the plate. It worked. Bottom line is “rest” days have about once a month. Some of the other games off were for matchups and injuries. It’s not like they are getting one day off a week. And if you look back at the “old” days, when you think guys never had a day off, you’ll find very few players who even played 162 games, much less started that many. Most were in the 150s played, and less than that started. And yes, I am aware there are exceptions.
