  1. Boggs met the criteria, Dewey didn’t. I love Ortiz, but he technically hasn’t met the criteria yet either. Frankly, I prefer the Sox way to that of other teams who seem to retire the numbers of the very good rather than the great.
  2. Walden got the side in the 7th on 12 pitches. There was no reason to take him out, especially with the part of the line-up due up.
  3. I can’t, and I loved Dewey when I was a kid. I have very high standards though; I’m not sure Rice should be in there.
  4. I can live with the type of hit Barnes gave up (medium speed grounder); there’s not much you can do about it. Brasier’s ropes are s different story.
  5. I said earlier the Jays don’t quit. Right after they left Boston the last time they went to NY and kept making it close with the Yanks. Dumb play by Devers.
  6. He pitched well last night. Like a lot of these guys, he seems incapable of pitching back to back games. I would not have taken Walden out; he’s capable of going and has gone more than 1 inning; I even thought he might have gone 3 and gotten a cheap save.
  7. It’s on both of them. Bad read by Chavis (wonder if Grichuk deked him). Bradley was thinking triple out of the box but also needs to look up once he hits second.
  8. One thing we do know is the Jays can hit and they don’t quit. Definitely have to keep scoring.
  9. You guys do realize Porcello is around 37th in the majors in homers allowed. That was the 16th he’s given up. Verlander has allowed the most with 26.
  10. Not saying that they shouldn’t have bunted, only what the results of a successful bunt would have been. Bogaerts may have driven in the run, but he had struck out in a similar situation a couple innings earlier, albeit against Jansen.
  11. He would never have been given the chance; they would gave put him on first. Devers may have been as well.
  12. Maybe to give Vazquez a complete day off instead the partials he’s been getting as a dh or 1B?
  13. Not a bad pitch; it got in on him but a good piece of hitting by Sogard.
  14. At the very least stay in a rundown long enough for Hernandez to get to second and replace him.
  15. Pen did pretty well tonight. Dodgers got to the 7th guy. They did virtually nothing against the other 6.
  16. Like I said, I’d rather see a kid in his spot in the pen. A kid might get better; Velazquez isn’t going to. Houdini acts don’t last forever.
  17. More than likely they walk both of them. So what does Bogaerts do? He struck out the previous time in with a chance to win it (albeit against Jansen). We know JDM grounded out weakly to end the inning.
  18. If Bradley’s on 3rd, Betts never gets the chance to swing. They are going to walk him and probably Devers as well.
  19. Hopefully this is the end of Hector Velazquez. I’d rather give the spot to a kid who might get better; Velazquez isn’t going to do that.
  20. So let’s see, Hernandez bunts Bradley to 3rd. They are going to walk Betts and Devers at that point. Does Bogaerts come through? JDM didn’t.
  21. Umm, he managed the pen to 6 scoreless innings until Neck Tat took the mound. There is a lot of blame to go around in this one. Bogie’s error cost 3 runs. Leaving the winning run on 2nd in 3 straight innings. Base running blunders. Cora’s bullpen management isn’t one of them.
  22. I’ve never liked him. He got away with Houdini acts for a while but that only works for so long.
  23. That’s going to be obstruction.
