The only silver lining is that it counts as 1 loss. I guess if you’re going to suck, it may as well be all phases in a given game. Nothings worse than the hitting being there one day but the pitching be terrible followed by the reverse the next day.

Richards and Perez have already been replaced; both will be gone. ERod will also be gone as will a couple guys at the back end of the bullpen. I think there will be a couple of every day players traded or released who will be total surprises.

That one was dumber than Martinez’s. There is no reason for Kike to be that far off the base on that, especially with no one out.

Like I said to Jung, it took a helluva play by the RF to get JD. Wonder if he’s a converted left side infielder the way he threw on the run.

One throw was up the first base line: that one was on the 3rd base side. Helluva a play by the Rangers’ RF though. The only way he makes that play is to throw on the run like tgat. Kid’s got an arm.

Wow. TV guys just relayed an incredible story about the Rangers’ OF Pozo. With the minors shut down he was homeless a year ago. ERod pretends to cover first which led to an infield hit. Been that way since that knee injury a few years ago. At first, he didn’t bother trying at all; now he jogs over sort of covering the bag.

I recall the Sox moving a Sunday game up a day and playing a doubleheader on a Saturday against the A's about 10 years ago. I'm pretty sure it was 2011, because for some reason I always remember it occurring right before the September collapse that year.

Optics aside, it would not have mattered.

Except it wasn’t a hard single to right, it was a ball that looked like a possible catch off the bat. Edit - went back and checked; the ball was hit harder than I thought but hit the ground about 6 feet in front of the fielder. Off the bat it looked catchable.

Yeah, it would have been interesting to see how that would have gone with Verdugo in left. But you did get to see Bogie demonstrate his soccer skills.

I’d put that on the metrics. Given how far Rafi was off the line, I assume they had JD way towards left center. Bogie would be sprinting that way anyway in case the ball hit the wall.

The league average is 23%. Both Sox catchers are below that; Vaz at 20% and Plawecki at 10%. Most bases are stolen on the pitcher, not the catcher. The Sox have a lot of guys who take a long time to deliver the ball. Heck, Judge was practically sliding into second last night off of Ottavino by the time Vaz even caught the ball, hence no throw.
