  1. Ahh yes. My bad. I'd DFA La Sorsa or Gamboa, but I wouldn't miss Gasper. Knizner, Delay or Thaiss might be fine, if we need a catcher, later.
  2. Sandoval went 4 good innings today and may be ready to join the big club, soon- most likely in the pen. Moran has been pitching well in his rehab assignment. Sogard is expected to start rehabbing very soon, but I'm not sure he gets the call, when ready. IKF may miss more time than just "after the ASB." Casas has begun swinging off a tee and vs a pitching machine. Anthony is "improving" as he takes "light swings" with a "skinny bat." I'm thinking we'll be lucky to see him in AUG, if at all this year. Nothing new on Crochet. Last word was "not quite ready to start throwing." Oviedo has started a throwing program, but isn't close to being ready. Crawford had "tightness in his forearm" on June 12th and nothing new has been reported. So, basically Sandoval & Moran to help the pen, then maybe someday Anthony to return and DH and Crochet to pitch.
  3. Maybe Romy can give the offense a boost. He's missed some time, but has been a decent batter since joining the Sox. He's been a lefty killer, but hit .718 v RHPs (198 PAs,) last year. He had less PAs vs LHPs (143) in 2025 and 2024-2025 combined... 2024-2025 L-R Splits .931 (273 PAs) v LHPs .651 (284 PAs) v RHPs From 2024-2026, Romy has the 7th best OPS vs LHPs in MLB (270+ PAs) Willson is 15th at .897 Ref has fallen to #43 at .822.
  4. Romy to DH and bat 5th. Duran sits this one out. 1. Eaton LF 2. Rafaela CF 3. Abreu RF 4. Contreras 1B 5. Romy DH 6. Durbin 3B 7. Seigler 2B 8. Wong C 9. Cheng SS Bench: L Duran, L Yoshida, R Narvaez, R Monasterio
  5. Sandoval went 4 in Woo's win, today. (3H, 1ER, 1BB, 3K) Moran went 2 perfect innings. Capra homered and had 2 hits. Wehunt pitched very well in POR's 6-0 win. (6IP, 1H, 0ER, 0BB, 8K) The pen K'd 5 in 3IP. Zero BBs and 13 Ks and just 2 hits. Bleis hit his 4 HR in 3 games and Arias had 2 hits. Brannon K'd 4 times in 4 PAs. Winnay homered (.835 in AA) Frazier homered, too.
  6. Sox ERA+ in order of IP (20+) 113 Early 143 Suarez 138 Gray 146 Tolle 64 Bello (AAA) 84 Watson (much in mop-up role) 125 Bennett 134 Moran (IL) 65 Crochet (IL) 152 Whitlock 216 Chapman 155 Samaniego (AAA) 8-19 IP: 92 Coulombe 66 Slaten 125 Kelly 120 Guerrero 94 Kahnle 125 Anderson We've used 24 pitchers in half a season.
  7. Sox OPS in order of most PAs (100+) .773 Abreu .614 Duran .904 Contreras .775 Rafaela .667 Durbin .594 Mayer (IL) .547 Story (IL) .671 Yoshida .562 Narvaez .647 Monsaterio .705 IKF .675 Anthony .613 Gasper .758 Wong (Under 45 PAs) .758 Sogard .721 Seigler .927 Eaton .619 Cheng
  8. So, Romy and Ward take Gasper's 26 man slot? I'm not against your Ward promotion idea, though, but with Duran & Yoshida on the 26, I'm not sure Tracy plays him. I like having several infielders, so we can PH often. How about DFA Yoshida and move Anthony to the 60. Demote Gasper and add Romy to the 26 and Ward to the 40 and 26.
  9. Some decent BTV values and some questionable BTV values... 80 Rafaela 62 Tolle 54 Arias 50 Suarez 38 Mayer (LOL) 37 Abreu 34 Early 24 Eyanson 20 Anthony (despite the extension) 20 Durbin (This will get some responses) 17 Soto (FCL) 16 Narvaez (Hmmm....) 15 Justin Gonzales & Enddy Azocar 14 Crochet 12 Witherspoon 11 Romy G 10 Valera 9 Godbout & Bennett 8 Duran & Phillips 6 Slaten, Holobetz & Rivas 5 Cespedes 4 Willson, Ramos & Bleis 3 Chapman, Delzine & Weissert 2.5 Comp Pick, Anderson, Samaniego, Romero & YRod 2.0 Romero, Cason, Zanetello, Uberstine, Ro Hernandez, Wehunt, Da Reyes 1.5 Whitlock, Wong, Gasper, Sogard, Brannon, Ziehl, Ramos, Mullins, Neely Monegro, Musett, Hickey, Bastardo, GeRod, Taylor 1.0 Many players -38 Story (owed $42M) -26 Yoshida (owed $27M) -24 Bello (owed $48M) -7 KC (owed $56M) -5 Sandoval (owed $6M) -2 Houck -1 Gray, Casas & Crawford
  10. Anthony to 60 Day IL and Gasper to AAA. We need Cheng for SS. We need Monasterio and Seigler for when we PH for Cheng and then maybe later PH for Monasterio or Seigler.
  11. We need Gray to have a good game, and of course the bats to keep doing just enough.
  12. For what it's worth, BTV has KC worth -$6.7M. He's owed $56M and is "worth" $49.3M. By their numbers, we could trade Phillips $8.3M & KC for nothing.
  13. Why keep Gasper on the 26? Hell, even Narvaez is 2 for his last 8! (LOL) Gasper had 5 good games and has hit .547 since.
  14. Romy had a decent 2024, too, especially vs LHPs. I'm not sure who this "everyone" is. I've not seen a single poster say Romy will be as good as 2025, in fact he's hardly been talked about at all.
  15. Although the Sox are 2-4 in Bennett starts, they really should have been 4-2 or even 5-1 with some decent offense. 5 IP 1 ER win 5.1 / 4 loss 5.0/ 4 loss 5.1/ 2 loss 6.0/ 0 loss 6.1 1 win
  16. Less than two full seasons is not "too long." .622 first two seasons (335 PAs) 1.006 first 29 games of 2023 (110 PAs) .753 the last 74 games if '23 before going on the IL (252 PAs) .834 for that fantastic 2024 season of 735 PAs .722 in his last 1026 PAs. He's never been consistently good for more than that one great season. He's played in 6 MLB seasons, with 2 being short samples and one being cut short by injury (AUG 20, 2023.)
  17. Duran is doing everything possible to bring his trade value to near zero. I'd rather non tender him than offer him an arb, where he can make $8-10M. Trade him before he gets to negative trade value. (like Today?)
  18. I might even try DH'ing Romy v RHPs and see how that works out. He did okay v righties, last year (.718) Some 2025 splits to ponder about who should DH v R: .681 Gasper .663 Yoshida .625 Duran as a DH v L & R .814 Monasterio (just 35 PAs) .679 Duran (30) .604 Yoshida (142) .599 Roman (59) .563 Gasper (54) I doubt Romy would do great vs righties, but he MIGHT do "better." The key word is "might." For all we know, the 2025 Romy was an outlier. He hasn't even hit the 600 PA mark with the Sox, but .786 after 557 PAs is pretty nice.
  19. Yup, and their numbers seem to be growing. (Not without some good reasons to be negative.)
  20. Romy is on the 60 Day IL, so we'd need to add someone to the 60, make a trade or DFA someone to activate Romy. I don't see anyone we can move from a shorter IL to the 60: IKF, Sogard or Mayer? No. Maybe we can retro Anthony to the 60? If we DFA, it could be... Joe Ls Sorsa or Alec Gamboa. I think we keep our everyday players. To move Romy to the 26, we can demote Monasterio or Seigler, but I would not. Keep the PH options at 2B/SS alive. I think we keep Cheng to play SS, until Mayer returns. We could also demote Gasper, who has been a friendly ghost over the last 25 games (.542 in 87 PAs) He's been at .547 after his first 5 games. I'd demote him over Monasterio/Cheng/Seigler.
  21. Best case scenario: Durbin hits .750+ the rest of his time with BOS and plays near GG defense at 3B. Arias is called up and hits the ground running with plus defense at SS and a plus bat from day 1. That still leaves 2B wide open- something it's been since Pedey was healthy over a decade ago. Romy can and maybe should DH more than play 2B/1B. Mayer looks like the best odds on being the next best 2Bman, going forward. He's pretty good on D, which is better than we've seen over the last decade plus, but .650 ain't cutting it, and his leash is shortening. Injuries are another major concern for him. IKF is on the IL and sees his control end after this season. Monasterio, Seigler, Sogard & Cheng are not solutions- neither is Capra, Romero or other farm hopefuls. Winnay may surprise, but other than Arias, we don't have much hope in AA and AAA in non 1B infield promise. Godbout has a "early 2028" ETA on soxprospects.com, so maybe he can help in a couple years, but we've put off fixing 2B for way too long. Waiting for Arias or Godbout seems like punting the problem, once again. Soto & Ramos are 3+ years away.
