  1. Will, would… WON’T!
  2. Fixed it for you.
  3. Out of the big 4, I think 3 make it big, but probably 2 is more likely than all 4 doing well.
  4. Yes, in sporadic sample sizes, usually coming right off rehab. I’ve also seen Yoshi’s SLG. Thinking someone has a better shot that Yoshi is NOT high praise.
  5. It was .546 over a 148 PA sample size, which is a longer stretch than this recent good stretch, but the recency factor is often used on this site.
  6. .818 in his last 103 PAs or one month. While that sample size is still kinda small, it’s a big chunk of 2024.
  7. That’s the point. Duran did not have a good stretch when many wanted to trade him. Houck did, but I did not hear much talk of trading or extending him.
  8. Just a better chance than Yoshida, IMO- not saying I expect it.
  9. Now, name tge ones who fell off the cliff: Swihart, Lavarnway, Wikelman, and many many more.
  10. Just a connecting flight in Cancun. Barcelona is cooler than Houston
  11. Sounds like budget talk gets into your thoughts, too
  12. Story is running out of time, but I think he has a better chance at having a big plus year.
  13. Agreed. It’s hard to know what they would have gotten in arbs, but getting the extra years is what we hope will be the kicker!
  14. Trade Trade Keep
  15. In Cancun waiting for flight to Barcelona, so I missed the game- maybe the first in many years. Glad to see the box score and the comeback win!
  16. I’ve never bought into the Jays hype, but they did better than we did, the last couple years. Last year was weird. I think we won the first 7 vs them but lost the next 8.
  17. Only if done by a STL fan. My power rankings would be fun.
  18. I had a hard time finding a backup 1Bman. Maybe Kavadas or Meidroth?
  19. By the end of 2025, we may see these players at these positions: C: Wong, Teel, McGuire 1B: Casas, Jordan 2B: Story, Valdez, Grissom, DHam, Yorke (Campbell?) SS: Mayer, Story, DHam/Romy 3B: Devers, Romy (Meidroth?) LF: Duran, Refsnyder CF: Rafaela, Anthony RF: Abreu, Anthony DH: Casas, Devers, Story, Yoshida, Refsnyder
  20. When you extend players at their points in development, it is sometimes is about assuming they get better as they near prime. With Bello, I think they'd have been happy if he just pitched like 2023, for the remainder of the deal. He did have a 3.2 bWAR and 1.6 fWAR in 2023. Fangraphs had a lower WAR and claimed his FA value was $12.8M and is $4M, so far for 2024.
  21. And, he might be worth overpaying to get. Now, what would an overpay look like? I can't see a top 3 prospect going, or even Cespedes or Bleis, but would we trade Zanetello & Sandlin? (Maybe add Wink?) Would LAA accept? How about Bleis & Wink?
  22. Indeed, the last three largest FA deals have seen major injuries and or underperformance, when healthy. $140M/6 Story- 145 games out of 486 and just a .681 OPS $90M/5 Yoshida (plus a $15.4M posting fee)- 173 games out of about 239 at .754 $38M/2 Giolito- No GS in year one. We did do well with some mid-level deals like Jansen ($32M/2,) Martin ($17.5M/2,) and Turner (~$15M/1) but a few not so good- like all the $10M/1 deals: Kike II, Kluber & Richards. (The $18.8M/2 extension to Barnes was a bust.) Bloom did much better with the $3-7M deals, like Wacha, Hill, Duvall, Strahm, Renfroe and Kike I at $14M/2 and Paxton at $10M/2.
  23. I know the Aaron Civale trade has not worked out well for the Rays, but I wonder if Brez will look for a pitcher with 2+ years of control, like that trade was. He doesn't seem like the type of GM that would grossly overpay for a 2 month rental, but this is his first deadline, so we'll see. IMO, he will likely do a few under the radar type deals, but maybe we see a Schwarber type deal, this year.
  24. You thought the "his" was about Pivetta? Indeed, but again, Martin is not a closer and Pivetta will likely triple his IP in AUG & SEP...
