  1. If Story gets healthy, he has got to be our best defensive SS. I suppose moving him to2B, where he is also excellent is not a bad idea, if Mayer proves he’s a ML SS. Maybe 2B lessens the risk of injury, slightly- at least to his throwing arm/shoulder. Mayer has to win the job, first.
  2. Facts are facts: Sale in playoffs with Sox: 34 IP 24 ER (6.35 ERA) 1.44 WHIP
  3. Indisputable fact: Game 1 WS for Sale 4 IP 5 Hits 3 ER 2 BB and 7 Ks I’m not dissing Sale over one game: just going tit for tat with the class clown.
  4. Tough box score to wake up to in Bilbao , Spain. Gotta get em, today.
  5. Pitchers can pitch to RHBs to make it difficult to pull the ball, and many RHBs are not great at going to RF, especially with power.
  6. Why is Yorke better than Valdez? They both suck on D, and Valdez was hitting over.970 for a pretty long stretch.
  7. They all cost too much for JH to accept, and only Berrios is under control beyond 2025. Throw in Yoshida and maybe…
  8. big game for Crawford and the Sox, today.
  9. The Sox have lost only one series out of the last 12 (SDP 2-1.) We’ve tied a few, but just one lost series dating back to the end of May is pretty damn good.
  10. I think we see Valdez again.
  11. I doubt we do anything major with everyday players, unless we lose faith in a Casas or Grissom return. I do think we may do a mid level deal for a RHd 2Bman, SS or 1Bman. Any major or near major deal should be for a SPer. While the D at 2B/SS has been and still is bad, our O has been decent since about June1st for Raphael’s, Romy. Valdez and DHam. I think a Rez rolls the current dice at 2B. Maybe he trades a LHd OFer for a RHd OF or middle IFer. We need pitching first.
  12. The injury bug has really hit the Sox, this year. Lots of short term injuries, but also… Story Giolito Whitlock Casas Hendriks (known injury when signed) Murphy & Walter Martin & Mata Grissom
  13. I kinda hope the Yanks trade away as much of their future for another failed ring run.
  14. That was the question I was asking you, earlier. Moving Rafaela to FT CF means benching a damn good hitter. Ideally, we get a solid SP and a RHd 2Bman who can hit and play D. The problem is, I have yet to hear a name that grabs my attention and is available. Not sure who might be trades, but these are the highest fWAR 2Bmen on possible non contenders: India Semien Hoerner L Garcia
  15. Big weekend: BOS v KCR BAL v NYY
  16. Sox have the 4th best team OPs since June 1 at .801. Our staff has held its ground to some extent: 7th in xFIP since 6/1.
  17. We have 11 batters over .700 since June 1st: 1.003 Devers .973 Valdez (recently demoted) .923?Duran .881 O’Neill .801 Rafaela .799 Romy .797 Wong .790 Refsnyder .758 Abreu .738 Smith .703 DHam .693 Yoshida
  18. No SS drafted first will make many happy.
  19. June1>>> 0.9 Pivetta O.6 Jansen 0.4 Houck, Bello,Kelly 0.3Crawford,Criswell, Booser 0.2 Martin 0.1 Bern, Wink, slaten
  20. FWAR since June 1: 1.9 Duran 1.3 Devers O.8 O’Neill O.7 Wong, Valdez,Rafaela 0.5 DHam 0.2 Romy, Ref, Abreu 0.1 Smith
  21. Agreed, especially if the return of Casas is in doubt at the end of the month.
  22. I know, but when I put 2B only splits, it would not let me do split seasons, too.
  23. Sure looks good on paper. If one gets hurt or struggles, we’ll have DHam, Romy and Grissom as decent looking depth.
  24. Sox are …. 3.5 behind the Yanks (2 loss column) 5.5 from the Os (5 losses) 1.5 behind MN for the #2 WC slot +1.0 on KCR (2 in loss column) +2.5 on the streaking Astros (3 losses)
  25. Nice box score to wake up to. Our 5,6, 7 hitters had 8 of our 10 hits. Glad I was wrong about benching Yoshida. DHam keeps plugging away, as his sample size nears the point where I’m starting to expect .735 offense. Of course, the pitching was the highlight of the box score.
