  1. How about Abreu, Cespedes & Fajardo?
  2. We might be more likely to trade him if a few from Mayer, Campbell, Arias, Grissom, DHam and Romy have showed up.
  3. Our 2B has been a mess for so long, it's not funny. A half season from Story, here and half season from Kike, there, but otherwise, it's been worse than replacement level for over 5 years. DHam and Romy doing okay for a half year made it look like they some kind of solution. Even if they are better than sucky, doesn't mean they can be handed the job. That being said, I still think Bregman at 3B is what is best, and he's been no beacon for defense, this spring, either. His play at 2B is speculative. If Campbell can't play decent defense at 2B, I think the best solution may be XStory at 2B and Mayer at SS- not saying to start the season, but maybe sooner rather than later.
  4. I hope you are right about this maybe being a breakout year for Romero. We can use all the help we can get.
  5. I wasn't aware getting excited over a nice game is somehow an issue with you. I never made any claims that a nice game by Mayer wins a job for him on the roster, just as 1-11 from KC does not exclude him from winning a slot on the roster. I'm not sure what position I constructed you are questioning. My point about your constructing was based on you saying this, "If Campbell had a day like Mayer did the other day you’d be ranting, and raving about him, and you wouldn’t be saying it’s way too early." Yes, I would be and have been saying "it's much too early," and the sample sizes too small to make any definitive decisions. Getting excited about a big game is part of being a fan. The other day, I posted the spring OPS and literally said, "It's way too early."
  6. Another view: 19th in fWAR May 1st> 21st in fWAR June1st > (We were 23rd in 2023.)
  7. Agreed, but I have to think our top 3 prospects will not be added to the roster as bench guys. (Not that you even hinted at this.)
  8. I never suggest making any roster choices based on one game. I was only making a point about people claiming KC is not "ready" based on a 4 game sample size. I trust our management to know when the player is ready. I said "Mayer for mayor" not starting SS. I don't recall the "sleeping giant" comment on Bregman, but what does that have to do with writing off Campbell, so early? I've been pretty consistent saying I think maybe one kid starts on the opening day roster. I've said I'd love to see 2-3 make it, but only if they earn it and management deems them ready for a FT or near FT role. I got no stake in this choice. Stop constructing positions I don't hold and attributing them to me.
  9. You mean 3rd best? (almost 4th.) No they are not "desperate," but I do think they'd trade him in a second, for nothing, if someone took his salary- maybe even just half his salary, so at what point would you call it desperate?
  10. Tough to know. If he does, it will just be the 10 day not 60.
  11. So, if Campbell goes 4 for 4 with 2HRs, today, and brings his OPS up to .800, he's ready? It's way too early to say he's ready or not.
  12. It's hard to feel sorry for someone making $18M a year, but Yoshida can't be blamed for signing that deal. He has not hit, badly. He was a worse defender than we thought, but that's not really his fault we thoguht he could play LF. He may still have an .800 season in him. I hope so.
  13. soxprospects.com has Crawford & Bello beginning the year on the IL (Fitts is the ML 5th starter.)
  14. Assuming these are the 8 men in the pen, who makes the AAA pen? Hendriks, Chapman, Slaten, Whitlock, Winckowski, Wilson, Weissert & Guerrero... AAA Rotation: Fitts, Priester, Criswell, Dobbins, Gambrel Pen??? Ottavino, Adams, Fulmer, Moore Kelly, Bernardino, I Campbell, Drohan, Mills Moran, Mata, Davis, Harris, Newcomb, Olds, Van Belle, Burdi, Webb, Cruz
  15. Hard to disagree. There is a chance both Weissert & Guerrero make the 8 man pen.
  16. Boggs and Tiant in Yankee uniforms was hurtful, although neither had a full and great season with them.
  17. I forgot him. I'd say 10-20%. Maybe 50% he starts on the 10 day IL, but you don't get a 40 man roster add-on for those.
  18. Looks like Yoshida will not start on the IL. Nice to see Story doing well.
  19. We would not need to trade Abreu or anyone else, right away, or at least until the 3 kids establish themselves, but it makes sense to me to trade to upgrade a position of high need.
  20. Sandoval already is IMO.... Murphy is 99% Penrod 90% Yoshida 33% Whitlock 5%
  21. IMO, if all three make the 26, and nobody is hurt, we'll trade an OF'er. This would allow Campbell to play OF, when not in the IF "rover" mix. The kids will all have to play 145+ games, IMO. Maybe we trade the LHB Abreu and see this: 3B: Bregman 145/ Campbell 17 SS: Mayer 145/Story 17 2B: Story 128/Campbell 34 LF: Duran 150/ Campbell 12 CF: Rafaela 135/Campbell 27 RF: Anthony 145/Campbell 17 That's just 117 games for Campbell, so maybe someone DHs, when Devers sits and get gets 10 more games. Is 127-130 enough? Of course, we'll ave injuries, so I'm pretty sure all could get 145-155, per healthy player. No Yoshida. No Refsnyder (a top 15 batter vs LHPs since 2022.) No Abreu. No DHam, Romy, Grissom.
