  1. I wonder if he ever talked to Devers about wanting to move, years ago. I doubt he even broached the subject.
  2. Plus, the return for Priester is still largely TBD.
  3. Sounds about right on the two major theories or combination. To me, those are important, but putting the best players at their best positions should always be the #1 guideline. I won't say rule, but it should be the top priority. On the Devers thing, they could have tole him 2-3-4 winters ago, "Hey, can you grab a 1Bman's mitt and workout this winter at 1B, in case we need you there. Expect to work out there this ST'ing a little bit." I don't see that as being a difficult task for a manager to do, and even if it is a bit uncomfortable, it's part of your job functions/description. The Story-Bogey choice was more complex. Story was coming off a major injury and was building up arm strength. They may have also known Bogey had just one year left and they transition could wait a year. Story was also "okay" with the move to 2B. I guess Cora is fine talking to new players, despite them being veterans.
  4. I thought it was worth a shot calling up Cheng for a look-see.
  5. We did trade a lot of rotation depth, plus some farm starters, but we also added... Suarez Gray Oviedo Bennett and had hopes for Crawford & Sandoval's returns. On the farm, we got Bastardo back and drafted a bunch of college pitchers that are not 4-5 years away from the majors. (BTW, Priester has 0 IP in 2026.)
  6. Your reliance on Flg% shows your knowledge level.
  7. I'm not defending Story's defense, because I agree he belongs at 2B not SS, but 19 errors is not a ton for SSs. He had 11 throwing errors, and I'm sure his weak arm led to numerous infield hits not counted as errors. Only 3 SSs in MLB played more inning sat SS and had less fielding errors (not throwing.)
  8. We all know this aspect of these decisions. Some think it's a fireable offense/issue. I'm getting more and more frustrated by the whole repeating aspect of it.
  9. Yes, he was still somewhat recovering and was building up his arm strength. That one was more understandable.
  10. Yes, he is no automatic anything. I'm pretty sure most "baseball people" view Mayer as a better defensive SS than the 2025-2026 Story.
  11. The in- game story said "back injury." Weird.
  12. They had a major problem moving Devers. 1. They started the move about 2-3 years too late. 2. Apparently Cora never really even told or asked him to change positions. 3. They played Story at 2B and Bogey at SS in 2022, when that should have been reversed, too!
  13. Just when I gave up on Cespedes, he's coming to life. (Note: I gave up on Bleis & Castro at the same time.)
  14. It would be nice to see some glimmer of the team we thought might bring us joy, but you are right.
  15. Eduardo Rivera did well for POR: 5IP 3H 0ER 2BB 9K. Alcantara went 3-5 with a dinger, while Ferguson hit a granny.
  16. AL Teams winning WS, according to fangraphs: 9.2 NYY 7.7 SEA 5.3 DET 4.1 TEX 3.0 BAL 2.9 BOS (40% chance at making playoffs) 2.2 TBR 2.1 TOR 1.9 MIN
  17. Fangraphs says 27% Dodgers will be champs. 9% Braves & Yankees 8% Mariners 5% Tigers & Phillies
  18. Valera pulled after one inning due to back pain/injury.
  19. I think it's more about viewing Story like they did Devers for too long- immovable.
  20. Bennett starts for Woo tonight. Rivera is going for POR. Valera starts for GRE and Brown for Salem.
  21. He did have a decent 10 year stretch, but yes HOF caliber for just 5-6 seasons. Context is needed when you see his 3.33 ERA from 1967-1970. He had a 97 ERA+ and a 3.57 FIP.
  22. At one point I suggested we trade for Ezequiel Tovar to play SS (Story to 2B and Mayer to 3B,) but I'm not sure we matched up well with them. We'd need to have gotten more than Tovar for any of our 4 OF'ers.
  23. Agreed. Although Samaniego had 3 BBs in 3.2 IP, he did not allow a hit. He'll likely be back at some point. Watson must be close to the end of his look-see.
  24. Yup, so play him at SS until he earns it or a demotion. If he gets demoted, we'll decide who plays SS then. (IKF?)
