  1. I don't really see those as reasons to not trade Devers. I doubt it would affect anyone signings and extension. I'm not sure it would make any FA give it a thought. Most go for the money of the best opportunity for them. Devers is our go to guy. He has been big in big moments. He was on his way to his best career year and hurt his shoulder. I doubt this injury ends his career, or he never gets back to top form. This line-up is not good without him. That's why we should not trade him. That being said, what would we get back? (I'm not counting on the salary relief being spent by JH.)
  2. Teenie, tiny ST sample sizes (14+ PAs): 1.250 Bregman, 1.241 Thompson 1.159 Rafaela, 1.053 Sogard, 1.032 Story .979 Eaton, .956 Mayer, .885 Anthony, .879 Toro, .798 DHam 4+ IP 0.00 Crochet, Fitts & Weissert 1.35 Fulmer, 2.25 Newcomb, 2.70 Priester 4.15 Kelly & Adams, 4.50 Davis & Dobbins
  3. I think we've played 12 and have 17 games to go. I'm not sure all the decisions have been made, already, and some injury could change everything, but yes, so far, Campbell has not impressed.
  4. What did I analyze wrong? You continuously complain when someone cheers, and you label it "hype, hype, hype," but don't call that "bothering you." Okay. Got it. If there is nothing wrong with me showing excitement by punning "Mayer for mayor," and it doesn't bother you, why have you repeated it a half dozen times? BTW, what is your opinion on Campbell? All I hear is that you'll know what he is when he gets to the bigs and shows it. (I'm paraphrasing, here.) That's not an opinion on him as a player. It's a statement about how you view all prospects not the player.
  5. soxprospects.com projects the starting rotation to be: Crochet, Buehler, Houck, Giolito & Fitts (Crawford & Bello on the IL) The pen: Hendriks, Chapman, Slaten, Whitlock, Wilson, Guerrero, Wink and A Adams or Ottavino (as they have 14 pitchers listed) C: Wong 1B: Casas 2B: DHam SS: Story 3B: Bregman LF: Duran CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu DH: Devers Bench: Narvaez, Yoshida, Refsnyder, Romy and a 14th player in Sogard (Grissom at DH in AAA.) No top 3 prospect on the 26 or 40.
  6. I have no idea if Campbell is good enough. I projected he will start in AAA. I'm excited about hids potential, and somehow that bothers you. If I had to guess, I think he could outhit Rafaela in 2025, and somehow you view that as "hype, hype, hype." MVP points out how other Players of the year have done, and you choose hold optimism against some fans. That's your right. We have the right to disagree, and we do. And, yes I know the master of strawman construction, and his name is Old Red.
  7. We know what you "go on." It's all you tell us. Repeating it over and over does nothing.
  8. We know your position well. You are questioning what he can do at the ML level. You called "KC. The myth..." We got it. No strawman from us.
  9. I'm not saying he should, but some reasons MIGHT BE... Mayer is a better defensive SS (doubtful) Mayer cannot play 2B, while we know Story can play it well. Story's arm would not be put to the test as much at 2B. 2B might be less physically demanding on the fragile Story. Look, I'm all for Story at SS, as long as he's healthy and wants to play there.
  10. Because of some mental issue? He's not ready, because his shoulder is bothering him enough to not play. You'll argue with anything I say- just to disagree.
  11. Somebody hacked your account and wrote this... "KC. The Man, The Myth, and the Legend before he even appears in his first MLB game."
  12. Agreed, and I'd also like to see if he plays 2B, at all, in AAA. That might be telling.
  13. I don't know why. Maybe he liked BOS more. Maybe he thinks he could get $40M in 2025, even with much differed plus $171M/5 after this year.
  14. Raffy is hurt. He will almost certainly start the season at DH.
  15. Story was okay with moving to 2B for Bogey. I'm not sure about for Mayer. I think we start the season with Story at SS and a DHam-Romy platoon at 2B. All the kids start in AAA, unless Abreu is on the IL, then Anthony might make the 26. Even teh, we may go with an OF of Yoshida-Ref in the shorter corner OF slot, Duran in CF and Rafaela in the larger corner OF slot, until Abreu is ready.
  16. It's pretty nice to have Arias, Cespedes and Romero, plus maybe Soto and Ramos behind Mayer and Campbell on the farm depth charts. Not many teams have that luxury.
  17. If he thinks he can get the same offer Detroit gave him, this coming winter, he may take it. It would then be $171M/5 vs $80M/2 (not $120M/3.) That's a huge difference.
  18. I can see your point. I'm not sure a few ST'ing games has jumped Mayer ahead of Campbell on the call-up schedule, and that schedule may be tied to performances and health of other players who do make the opening day 26. If Story gets hurt, I'd say mayer has the better chance of being called up, first. If DHam, Grissom or Romy look crappy or get hurt, maybe Campbell has the better chance. An OF injury may cause Anthony to get the earliestcall-up.
  19. We all know he hasn't made the team, yet. We can still have an opinion that he could hit better than .246 (Rafaela.) If he doesn't, then we were wrong. Based on ML experience, I also think DHam-Romy platoon should be expected to hit better than Rafaela. That may not happen, either. I'd like nothing more than for Rafaela to hit over .750. I would not project that, right now. That's all this is. Speculation.
  20. You listed what you felt was our strongest line-up. I assumed you had Rafaela in CF. If you did not, then my reply was off base. If you have Rafaela in CF, I do not think that would be the strongest offensive line-up. We could have Yoshida and Ref in LF with Duran in CF. It would be essentially replacing Rafaela in CF with whoever we play at 2B --Campbell or a DHam-Romy platoon- both choices of which I expect would be better on O than Rafaela, but (Red) it's just projections. Even having Bregman at 2B, Devers at 3B, Yoshida at DH and a Ref in LF FT and Duran in CF FT would be better batting than Rafaela in CF FT, IMO.
  21. That's how I see it, but Campbell may get the call before Mayer. Has Mayer played 2B, this spring? If not, it seems he is just Story's replacement, of maybe they move Story to 2B, if Mayer has forced his way onto the 26. I guess they could pull a Bogey, and give Mayer 10 games at his new position, beforre calling him up.
  22. Yes, I know. I think we had a Gonsalves a few years back, and I think he meant Justin Gonzales, now.
