    If Abreu starts the year on the 10 Day IL, I could see them adding Thompson while they add someone else to the 60 Day IL. (Murphy or Perales?) Maybe DFA Sogard or a pitcher? I was wrong to dismiss Thompson's chances, so quickly. He may still not make it, but maybe he does. I do see two roster slots easily opened with the two pending 60 Day ILs. For all we know, maybe Crawford or Bello ends up on the 60.

    Crochet sets Opening Day deadline for extension talks. Gerrit Cole has been recommended for TJS and will get a second opinion.

    Well, with the impending lock-out, I'm not very optimistic he gets the same deal. I just said "He could." I think he might have a monster year in 2024. That's about the major thing that could make it happen, IMO. I'm not predicting it or saying it is likely..

    Anthony is not on the 40, now. Of course, he can be viewed as competition to win a slot, but unless Thompson wins a slot, hw might end up being a non 40 man roster in AAA. I'm not sure how it works for NRI who don't make it, maybe some other team swoops in and nabs him.

    I could see Bregman signing a very similar deal to the Tigers one, this coming winter, and he’d be making more by doing what he did this winter.

    Good to see Story Time showing signs of changing his genre from Fantasy and Dystopian to Thrillers & Suspense.

    They did only get 9 GS from their ace (Sale,) but yes, they mostly used just 5 SP'ers (all with 22+ GS) Houck got 13, Sale 9, Peacock, Seabold and Crawford 1 each. (Richards was demoted to the pen.)

    Uehara has some very nice seasons right before BOS got him. They knew they got a good RP'er, but yes, nobody expected THAT GOOD!

    Agreed. Money now can be invested and create way more money for later, but when you look at how many athletes that made a lot of money, but are now broke, maybe they wish they has deferred money in their contracts.

    I usually say $95M/3. others say $31.7 x 3, or $31.7 AAV x 3. That being said, he will still get the deferred money. $20M a year is deferred until 2035 to 2046. I understand how and why they count the deferred money differently, but he still gets it.

    Word is, the final Jays offer to Vladdy was under $600M, so that gives us some sort of idea what he might be asking for. (Note: he may not even get what the Jays offered. It may depend on how he does in '25. He'll also be a year older.)

    I guess I could have written another 5 paragraph post, but I felt that responding to a post about what Crochet and Anthony said, I was talking about them, ot Sox management. I do think Crochet must have injury concerns. I'm not sure Anthony is all that worried.
