    Yes, making the playoffs is the first priority, especially after making it just once since 2018. That's once in 6 seasons, and this is season 7. That being said, we play NYY & TOR, and so we have a real say in our chances at winning the division and perhaps skipping the first round of playoffs. That is a worthy secondary goal. Of course, the goal is to take one game at a time and doing our best to win as many as we can, at least until that game result no longer matters, if ever.

    I think Holobetz and Phillips are tied. Holobetz has already shown he can do well. Phillips has more "unknown" upside.

    Not bad losing 3 out of 4 and still just 3.5 from the ALE lead! 3.0 behind DET for #2 in AL. 1.5 behind the damn Yankees. (Losing ground to them sucked!) up 1.0 on HOU. up 3.5 on SEA up 5.0 on WC (TEX) and 5.5 on KCR/6.0 CLE We have the 8th best record in MLB (+0.5 on SDP) -0.5 from LAD (7th)

    There is time to snap out of it. BTW, Duran has hit .840 in last 34 games. .810 last 13 games. 1.014 last 6 games. We need more slumpers like Duran.

    Holobetz went 6 for POR: 4 hits, 0 ER, 0BB & 2K. Guerrero and Song are blowing up. (He was part of the Priester trade.) J Bello went 5 IP: 3 hits, 0ER, 2 BB and 4K. (He came in the Devers trade.)

    Hickey has been red hot. He's homered 2 times, today. He's Rule 5, this winter. Any chance of giving him a shot, this month?

    True, but we have 12 pitchers in the top 20 to 6 in 2005, so yes on being deeper. Anyone know any other pitchers from the Sox farm in 2005 that made the majors? (Note: none from this year might come true, as well.)

    He was hitting the ball pretty hard for outs for a while. I'm not sure about "Checking out," as some players just have slumps that are not related to being disinterested or checking out. The injury may be a factor, but he should be over it by now. Unless he starts hitting, we may not have much hope.

    Holobetz might turn into something, eventually, too. I'm not so sure about YRod, but he's still only 19. Between these two and Phillips, the jury is still out, but Priester's 2025 season is setting the bar pretty high.

    So true. There is so much luck involved in baseball, and that is one reason they play 162 games. We need to turn this around, and quickly.

    Here is another guy- not traded, but who had a 5.84 ERA with the Sox, last year in 25 IP (1.622 WHIP.) He signed with the Cubs, this winter, and now has an 0.978 WHIP and 2.20 ERA in 61 relief innings... Brad Keller.
