  1. So, I guess Cora was rolling his eyes at the groin injury. LMAO.
  2. This is one area of knee jerk reactions they have avoided for a long time, until the Crochet trade. There was a long gap between the Sale trade and the Crochet deal. The highest prospects traded was Beeks for Nate (2018 under DD) and Aldo Ramirez (2021 under Bloom.) I think JH views the farm as his ticket to low cost players. We probably feel like we can get what we need by trading players like Duran or Abreu and replacing them with Anthony, Campbell or Jh Garcia and maybe even trading Story with Mayer, Arias and Campbell in mind for a future key stone combination at a very low cost. Hell, we may decide to trade Bregman, so Mayer can play 3B until Story's deal expires. I could see us trading Chapman, too, if we go full reboot mode.
  3. Of all MLB batters with 180+ PAs since 2023, we have two top 15 OPS guys on platoons: 9. Refsnyder at .968 (Just below Teoscar & ahead of Vladdy) 15. Romy .937 (Just below Soto & ahead of Altuve)
  4. As the deadline approaches, listen for talk about Sandoval and or the return of Houck or others from the IL. Rinse and repeat.
  5. I could see us being buyers (SP & 1B) and sellers (Duran or Abreu and Buehler, if anyone wants him.)
  6. How often do we get into the same boat at the deadline? We always need a SP'er, and the cost is always way too high to make it worthwhile- ALWAYS. I do give Breslow credit for at least trying to be proactive in building up some very convincing rotation depth in his 2 short years with the team. Even I thought we had enough, although I did point out it was heavy on mediocrity & promise more than quality and dependability. Look at the list we had, at the start of 2025: Crochet: awesome trade & extension Houck: sucked then IL Buehler: highest AAV paid to a Sox pitcher since Price. Sucked. Crawford: On IL, all year and just had a "setback." Sandoval: Signed for August and 2026. A rare deal over 1 year. Bello: One of the few brighter spots of this rotation. Giolito: Largest contract given to any Sox pitchers since Nate, until Crochet's extension kicks in. Fitts: Has shown some good, some bad and some meh. Priester: Traded for Y Rod & Holebetz. (Added Harrison, recently) Newcomb: A stab in the dark that ended up pretty bloody. Dobbins: was pretty far down on the depth chart, and now is on the IL, after doing well. Criswell: yet to be used a starter, despite decent success as one in '24. Whitlock (FT pen arm, now) & Wink (60 Day IL): rightfully delegated to the pen. Murphy (60 Day IL) may end up in the pen, too. Non 40 man roster depth: Uberstine, Drohan (IL,) Stock, Early (AA) and Sandlin (AA.) That's a list at least 10 deep. We've tried 8, so far (No Sandoval, Fitts, Crawford and of course Priester.)
  7. He'll turn 38 before the 2026 season, which is younger than Jansen was, when we did not extend him. If he keeps this up, I'm all for bringing him back for 1 more season. I'd have been fine with bringing Jansen back for 1 more, too.
  8. I think so, too, but I do think Story may be more willing to move off SS than an unknown ex Sox player not to be mentioned. I'm not sure Mayer will be bother about playing 2B for a couple seasons. Story is playing very nice defense, now, so there is no hurry, anyway.
  9. Just heard some podcast talking to some unknown who was raving about Jh Garcia and how he may end up better than all of our big 3 prospects.
  10. I very much agree, here and have said often: you get what you pay for. Even stepping up from the $5-10M/1 deals to $21M/1 (Buehler) or $39M/2 (Giolito) deals isn't getting the job done. It takes bold spending and trading to get the job done. That being said, take a look at the success rate of the biggest 2 or more year contracts give to pitchers, from the Price deal to 2022: $43M x 3 Scherzer '22-'24 $36M x 9 Cole '20-'28 $35M x 7 Strasburg '20-'26 $34M x 3 Bauer '21-'23 $33M x 2 Verlander '20-'21 $33M x 6 Greinke '16-'21 $31M x 7 Price '16-22 $31M x 3 Kershaw '19-'21 $28M x 5 de Grom '19-'23 $27M x 5 Sale '20-'23 $25M x 7 Strasburg '17-'23 $25M x 3 Arrieta '18-'20 $25M x 2 Verlander '22-'23 $24M x 3 Stroman '22-'24 $24M x 5 Wheeler "20-'24 $23M x 6 O Corbin '19-'24 $23M x 5 R Ray '22-'26 $22M x 5 J Zimmerman '16-'20 $22M x 5 Gausman '22-'26 $22M x 2 Rodon "22-'23 $21M x 6 Darvish $21M x 4 Porcello One has to at least understand why many GM refuse to go down this road. It's not just about greedy owners.
  11. I sometimes think it's trolling, but I actually think he believes thiis stuff!
  12. Campbell is not even a good 2Bman (yet?) so why should he play SS? He may be lucky to play CF over DH, but he's got to show he can field somewhere, well enough. I have faith he will be a good hitter, someday, and almost certainly better than DHam will ever be, but as of now, he's not, and he's a lesser defender and baserunner. The rest is what is utterly irrelevant.
  13. It sent me to a link that asked me to join a membership. No offense, but it was more than just reading it.
  14. Killed by their 3 bottom hitters- all under .560 to start the day.
  15. THis game is just reeking of snake bites. If we can pull this out, maybe we can break free from these types of games continuously going bad. 9 hits to 3. Running into outs Bad Ump calls. Buehler's Month off.
  16. Sorry, I clicked "batting 1st," not 1st inning. 1st inning: .197 BA .260 OBP
  17. I didn't know the Angels were having a "Singles Night" at the park, tonight.
  18. Forget the locker room, how about doggin' the basepaths? There is evidence of that.
