We need to fill the 60 day IL quota with someone: better him than Crochet, Houck, Crawford, Oviedo and some others.

Weissert is better than most team's 5-6th RP'er and maybe better than some 3's and 4's. (Note: most pens are 8-9 in number.)

Suarez as ad some tough outings, but has not got the run support and good luck others have had, this year. If he gets the win tonight, he'll be 8-4. Not going deeper into games has been one reason he hasn't gotten the win, but he has done better than an 8-4 record indicates. If we win tonight, the team will be 17-10 in his starts, which is very good. I'll say it again: I'd rather have Suarez, Durbin, Seigler & Monasterio than Bregman, Harrison, Drohan & DHam. Before tonight's game, Suarez placed 22nd out of all pitchers with 130+ IP in ERA- (78.) He may have moved up. He's tied with Gray in xFIP- at 88. He was ahead of Gray in fQAR 3.6 to 3.2 and widened the gap after this game. When's the last time we had 3 SP'ers in the top 26 in fWAR and top 22 in ERA-? Never?

Castro went 3-4 with 7 RBI, tonight. (Maybe I should reconsider.) Ward went 5-5, so expect notin to start up, again. Arias 2-4 w BB. WOO won 16-1.

We've used 22 pitchers in relief this year, not counting Monasterio. Brez missed on a few, but some real no names have done well, as well as some we knew about and had various levels of confidence in by opening day. Although OPS Against is not the be-all-end-all stat, it's better than ERA for relievers. 3 weeks is sketchy, to me, and specifically choosing that period over 2 or 4 weeks is only dont to further a point being made. I'm not saying it's wrong, or that 3 week samples are not significant. I cherry-pick time frames as much as anyone.

Crochet is better, but I think Houck is closer to "ready." Oviedo is not as close as Houck and is the worst of the 3, so I'm not sure he gets a look before the season ends, and no way do I bring him up for his first game back vs the Yanks in NY. I'm not counting on any pitcher returning.

I expected at least one more start from Oviedo, Crochet, Houck or Crawford. It's rather stunning how well we've done without these 4 for all but 6 starts from Crochet. Add to this the Bello starter yips, and it seems near impossible.

I'd rather see Tolle, too, but the #2 game SP'er will get extra rest, if we advance. The way the days off fall, the #1 will not.
