  1. Well, he was never above average on defense, although many expected him to improve to at least average. His offense declined, perhaps due to playing injured. Next year could be break-out time for Bogey.
  2. Want a busy winter with bold moves? Trade: Bogey for prospects and flip them to Miami with Ockimmey, Flores and Castillo for Stanton. Trade: JBJ, Travis, and Hembree for Salazar Sign: Cozart $42M/3 Sign: Santana $45M/3 Sign: B Shaw $21M/3 LF Stanton RF Betts 1B Santana CF Beni SS Cozart 3B Devers DH HRam 2B Hernandez/Holt/Lin >Pedey C Vaz Salazar takes ERod's slot and when ERod returns Wright goes to the pen.
  3. The 9 QO's: Jake Arrieta, SP, Cubs Lorenzo Cain, OF, Royals Alex Cobb, SP, Rays Wade Davis, RP, Cubs Greg Holland, RP, Rockies Eric Hosmer, 1B, Royals Lance Lynn, SP, Cardinals Mike Moustakas, 3B, Royals Carlos Santana, 1B, Guardians
  4. I've been saying I don't think it will take a whole lot to get Stanton, if we pay his whole salary. I could even see us getting Stanton or JD Martinez plus Santana or Moose.
  5. As much as possible.
  6. Yes, when Pedey comes back in July or August, it is likely he will go back to 2B, but he might DH for a while first.
  7. No, you asked who would start, if they weren't traded. Pedey is hurt. Moncada would start 2B next year or be a better DH than HRam. What's so hard about this?
  8. Building a farm involves international signings too. I've already agreed his drafts weren't that good. BTW, how is drafting Beni (Taylor and Allen) in 2015 a "bad draft?"
  9. I was only concerned with his defense. I'm fine with high K rates, if the guy still hits. I was roasted for suggesting he DH. I loved the Sale trade, but not because I disliked Moncada or Kopech. You are right, though. Many poster roasted Moncada over his tiny sample size in the bigs in 2015.
  10. Enough to get us Kimbrel, Pom & Sale. Enough to be way better than what DD has added. Enough to be way better than what Theo left Ben. Enough to be the highest ranked farm system in MLB. OK!!!!
  11. They might like Travis, but they could have Ockimey, if they preferred. I'm not sure they like EE at 1B, and they are losing Santana. I might add Chavis, but I'd have to think about it.
  12. No, you went say, "So your argument is that he's better than two s***** players? That's some high praise!" I wasn't praising anybody. I was answering a question about which prospects traded would be starting now. The debate was not about praise- just are they good enough to be starting. I'm not a big Holt fan, so saying Moncada and maybe Dubon are better than Holt is not praise. Same with Moncada vs HRam.
  13. Not adding a "lick"? Players Ben added to Theo's farm: Beni Devers Moncada Kopech Espinoza Chavis Travis Basabe Basabe Maddox Victor Diaz Lin Guerra Rijo WOW! I just hope DD can add half this amount in 4 years.
  14. Please follow along. We were asked what players that were traded would start for the Sox. I listed Moncada, maybe Dubon at 2B or Moncada at DH. I also mentioned Margot might DH/4th OF for us. With ERod hurt and the Sale trade being theoretically revoked, maybe Kopech would win a slot. I never said I'd be happy with these guys starting in 2018 for the Sox.
  15. If you think 45 errors at 3B is minor, fine. I don't. It may not be "major" to some. That's fine, too It's not worth arguing over.
  16. Better than HRam at DH and maybe better than Holt at 2B for 2018.
  17. So, theoretical international signings missed are worth more than actual ones that were rated so highly we got Sale and Pom for them.
  18. The one year penalty did not take away from the excellent international players Ben left DD- most of whom were traded away for Sale and Pom. Ben did NOT leave DD with a bad farm. Any spin that implies otherwise is just that: spin.
  19. My bad. I keep confusing these two, because at one time I wanted both. I meant Salazar with his injury history. Sorry. Yes, Carrasco would not be offered for JBJ, Swihart and Travis.
  20. I think it is more than a minor issue. It's just not as major as our lack of a clean-up hitter, 1Bman and injuries (surgery) to Pedey & HRam. SP'ing and RP'ing may be a higher need than fixing 3B defense. It's close. Devers was on pace for over 40 errors over 150 games. (Agreed: maybe "serious" was to harsh a word.)
  21. Maybe, but Carrasco has injury history, the Guardians have an OF issue and a rare surplus of SP'ers.
  22. What will happen is there will be a few of the young stars who will stay (although ALL OF THEM STAYING is an option the Red Sox have that other teams don't) - and other guys who leave or get dealt. There will be other good players staffed via trade, maybe a big FA. You can't make big trades unless you have players and prospects to trade. You can't keep all the young stars and make big FA signings, unless we spend $250M+ on our payroll. Yes, that could happen, but why didn't we sign Scherzer, if the sky is the limit? I'll beliueve it when I see it. Until then, I'm assuming we stay near the luxury tax budget limit with occasional spikes here and there along with reset years here and there.
  23. ...or maybe Price and our next big splash signing?
  24. That's "the" reason? Really? He did draft Kopech which was a big part of getting us Sale. Maddox and Chavis could help, too. I wouldn't crap on the international signings. Lin Guerra (used to get Kimbrel) Both Basabe's (used to get players) Rijo Moncada (used to get Sale) Devers (one of the few bright spots beyond the window) J Diaz Espinoza (used to get Pom) The farm DD inherited, in which some were Theo gets, was light years better thsan we have now. Trying to spin this into being Ben's fault is fake news. They weren't great drafts, for sure.
  25. Devers is not really a step down from Pablito, but he is from Lin and the league norm. With Bogey being average at best and Pedey out, our IF defense could be very shaky to start the year. It's not a top priority, but it is still a concern.
