  1. I don't care if anyone chooses to place any blame on JF for the lack of fundamentals, but we do clearly have a serious issue with fundamentals.
  2. He needs extra rest not short rest. We won't need him the last day of the year, so we should rest him 2-3 extra days, start him the last game vs TOR or the first game vs HOU and then rest him until OCT 5th- game 1.
  3. Anybody that was at 1B should have run to cover home, once Hamilton got to 2B. If he can't get to home before Hamilton, there's something wrong.
  4. I'd give him 2 extra day's rest before his next start and then rest him until October 5th.
  5. I really believe, he's not pitching the last game of the season, if we've clinched.
  6. It still seems weird that a top 3 defense by UZR/150 and DRS would allow almost double the unearned runs of the two teams ahead of them in runs allowed. One would normally expect a top defensive team to have a limited amount of unearned runs allowed. I realize errors are subjective, and it seems like we've made our share of mistakes not ruled as errors, but it's still surprising to me, that it seems like once we make an error, it bites us in the behind.
  7. Give him some time to recuperate.
  8. Too busy buying champagne.
  9. We'll probably end up placing 3rd in runs allowed, despite allowing 57 unearned runs- almost as much as the two teams ahead of us combined! CLE 35 LAD 34 Weird, since we are among the leaders in defense.
  10. Looks like we will end up placing 10th in runs scored. Not bad, when you consider we place 21st in OPS+ at 93. (League avg. 97)
  11. Yes. Teams that score 800 and let up 800 win less than teams that score 650 and let up 650. I researched it once, a long time ago.
  12. On 3 days rest? (Oct 1 to 5 gives him just 3 days rest.) No way.
  13. Stanton might look healthy, but there's no doubt he's had injury issues. Games player since 2012: 2012: 123 2013: 116 2014: 145 2015: 74 2016: 119 577 in 5 years = 115 per season Certainly health is a big concern on a contract of his length.
  14. Making Stanton our FT DH would probably lessen the injury risk issues.
  15. Maybe one good long rest with a few side sessions will actually be better for him. Who knows. My guess is they throw him 3-4 innings vs Toronto on an extra day's rest and then rest him until October 5th. (BTW, they haven't clinched yet, so do you throw him on normal day's rest so he's still lined up for the final game of the season, if needed? I don't.)
  16. It's new in that usually every year stinks.
  17. Duda sucks vs LHPs, so maybe he'd be perfect for the plan to limit HRam's PAs. We could play HRam vs LHPs only.
  18. The first game is October 5th. That's 3 days off after the last game of the season. Had we started Sale the first game in Cincy, we could have given him 1-2 days off before pitching a (short) game vs HOU and then 1-2 days off before game 1 on OCT 5th. Now, he's going to get a super long rest of lopsided rest.
  19. We know that, but that doesn't mean that's the reason nobody claimed him.
  20. There certainly are more options out there than one with a ten year contract.
  21. The Sox have the same record as last year, but are on pace to have a 45 run lower run differential. The will score 90 less runs and allow 45 less runs. It seems, "In this case", that allowing less runs makes up for losing 45 runs on the run differential tally. It's not surprising. Usually when a team wins more than their run differential dictates, they score little and allow little and not score a lot and allow a lot. Keeping the score low keeps you in more games and allows for more chances to win with timely hitting.
  22. Is it the same injury from 2015? If so, he didn't get surgery then, so I wonder...
  23. Yes. The number one thing odds makers look at when setting the line is who is starting for each team.
  24. Our Sox pitchers did a pretty good job vs the Reds. It's easy to say, "It's only the Reds," but the Reds have some very good hitters this year: 1.023 Votto .940 Cozart .893 Gennett .849 Suarez .803 Schebler .773 Duvall They may be in a distant last place, but they have 5 guys with better OPS than our top PAs players, and we beat them 3 straight in their own park! (15-8 in total runs)
  25. Updated Sox OPS .797 Betts .787 Beni .766 Pedey .755 Vazquez .754 Moreland .747 HRam .743 JBJ .731 Bogey (Only .066 separates all or batters with 325+ PAs) Under 300 PAs (with Sox only) .885 Nunez .871 Devers .699 Young .639 Leon .617 Marrero .521 Holt
