  1. I thought linking all Japanese players to Dice-K's flop was tremendously weak. There have been plenty of Japanese success stories. We've had so many international signing successes, I don't know where to begin. Most have been from Latin America, especially the really good ones. We've also had some pretty good success with Asian player signings. I'm not sure we win in 2013 without Uehara. True, he was proven already, unlike fresh signings, but he and many others prove the gamble is not an impossible gamble. Remember, we signed Okajima the same year as Dice-K. He was a good signing- very good. The Tazawa signing a couple years later worked out well, too. Our Top Latin American Signings (many more were failures): HRam (brought us Beckett & Lowell) Doubront Bogaerts F Montas Margot (helped get Kimbrel) Moncada (helped get Sale) Castillo Devers
  2. It never fails. Just one freakin' game and here we go again.
  3. Is this guy his identical twin or something? Good thing we gave Papi and Manny a chance after Jose Offerman's flop.
  4. I have the sound turned down. Have they said Nunez is out for the season?
  5. I'm calling it: JBJ with a walk-off in the 9th.
  6. Agreed. Pom would be MLB's best 4/5 starter with numbers like his, but sadly, he still is our #2 as of now.
  7. Before tonight... OPS Against .580 Sale .680 Price .705 Pom .717 ERod .820 Porc ERA+ 164 Sale 143 Pom 127 Price 115 ERod 99 Porc WHIP 0.95 Sale 1.24 ERod 1.25 Price 1.34 Pom 1.39 Porc QS 74% Sale 64% Price 59% Porc 53% Pom 52% ERod
  8. If only our 3-5 starters could do that!
  9. What more can be said about this pen this year? WOW!
  10. Those kind of ABs are highly frustrating to watch, especially when we desperately need men on base. Here's my projection: if JBj gets up again, he hits a walk-off.
  11. Some of the excessive unearned runs is probably just bad luck (or timing), and I'm sure our defense has saved many an earned run, so I'm not complaining. Hopefully, Devers and Bogey can step up their defensive games next year and we can maybe be the top defensive team in MLB.
  12. I think we'll win tonight.
  13. Okay, I was late for the bus on this one. Yes, he sucks.
  14. I'll more than take it. He's pitched like front line just about all year, except for the low innings per start. Huge plus.
  15. Not that Davis is doing any better, but he's a better defender (though we don't need a defensive OF replacement) and pinch runner- something we might actually need.
  16. No, I've never mentioned Pom by name, but this isn't the first time he's failed to cover first. Yes, I call that "bonehead". Overall though, Pom's been a big plus this year.
  17. I've been defending Young all year. I'm done. No way he's on my playoff roster.
  18. All this with a team that's currently sitting on a 97-98 pythagorean Wins! (edited) Please STOP!
  19. Please Stop! You're scaring the bejezzus out of me!
  20. Remember when some were questioning Sale's attitude because of the cutting the uniform thing? I mean, we're talking.... Chris Freakin' Sale!
  21. Showing some "fire and desire"!
  22. Great news. Ease him in slowly. With Pedey looking shaky, Nunez could be a key force.
  23. I just said and think it is a concern. I would love to have him on the Sox, as long as we don't trade away a key piece like Beni, JBJ or Betts. I might give Bogey, but I think we might be able to get him for something less. I don't want to trade the world and pay a hefty contract. But, I view Stanton is something like the same light as Sale. These guys don't come along often. We're talking about... Giancarlo Freakin' Stanton!
  24. The Yanks are getting rid of a lot of salary this winter. The tax number is just $25M, so that may tip the balance to "yes".
  25. How many were boneheadedness? How many were just plain physical mistakes or misjudging a play while still focused?
