  1. ...and we might have missed today's performance the next game he was "kept out". This is a perfect example, and many more exist, of why decisions should not generally be made based on small and scattered previous sample sizes. Price is a very good to great pitcher. He was bound to "return to his norm" at some point in post season play. What I've been thinking more about is that maybe we need to think long and hard about not burning out our starting pitchers by the time the playoffs arrive.
  2. My line-up next game: 1. Pedey 2. Vaz 3. Beni 4. Betts 5. HRam 6. Devers 7. Moreland 8. JBJ 9. Bogey
  3. 3.43 is pretty darn good, and it certainly beats 9.18.
  4. I'm lovin' the guy right now- as is JBJ!
  5. It was no choke before either.
  6. How about last 4 starts? ERod Last 4 starts 21 IP 8 ER (3.43 ERA) (last 5 starts: 27 IP/10 ER: 3.33) 17 H + 9 BB (1.24 WHIP) 24K Porcello Last 4 starts: 22 IP 11 ERs (4.50 ERA) 21 H + 9 BB (1.45 WHIP) 18K Fister Last 4 starts (before today) 16.2 IP 17 ER (9.18 ERA) 24H 7 BB (1.86 WHIP) 18K I saw a major difference and still do.
  7. Were those key 4 innings by Price enough to get those who had no faith in his playoff abilities based on his scattered past sample size to at least begin to reconsider their beliefs a teeny tiny bit? I know it's only 4 innings (a small sample size in and of itself), but that was Pedroeque!
  8. Reminiscent of Dewey's great catch, but this one was going to be a 3-run homer!
  9. 40 career PAs against Morton. I say, we're due to pound this guy!
  10. Price & HRam. Wow, two of the guys most roasted by fans and the media this year.... Boom!
  11. "Bonafide Game Superstars" , like Betts, can win games with their gloves too.
  12. Start ERod. If he falters early, we'll need to hope Porcello can pull a Price in relief.
  13. Great post. The way the best teams have stocked up their pens, getting the starter out early doesn't carry the weight it used to do, especially once in the playoffs.
  14. As I stated before, both ERod and Porcello had better recent 4-5 starts than Fister. It was a bad choice. We just may win this, despite JF's incompetence.
  15. It would have to be via trade. I don't see Duda, Hosmer, Morrison or Santana as a being the big difference maker we need.
  16. If Hanley gets healthy, and he looks pretty healthy now, he can play 1B vs LHPs only and DH a few times vs RHPs next year. JD Martinez could play LF when we need to rest Beni, JBJ or Betts or are in an NL park.
  17. You guys still wanna DFA HRam?
  18. I'm glad we gave Papi another chance, after many felt he was done many years back. The Pablo 3rd chance experiment failed, so I guess that means every similar experiment has to end the same way. 1) HRam is not out of shape. 2) He was playing hurt in 2015 and 2017. 3) He has had much greater seasons than Pablo ever had. 4) HRam has a WAR over 2 in the last 2 years combined. 5) He is not significantly past prime. 6) He has a $22M vesting option we can negate by keeping him. 7) He had the highest HR/PA rate on a team looking to improve on power this winter. Replacing your best power hitter is not sound strategy for improving your power numbers. 8) He is not blocking any top prospect, unless you think Travis is leading us to the promise land. 9) HRam is not Pablo. 10) We don't have to give him a long look next year. We could just limit his PAs and then move on- assuming he sucks as much as you think he does.
  19. My point was obvious.
  20. Exactly! Or, if it did not affect our two playoff losses, then the problem does not need to be addressed. Bass akwards!
  21. I never kept track. I wish I did. I haven't saved every game on tape, and even if I did, I'm not going back to make a list. My OCD only brings me so far. If you want to believe we did not have way more boneheaded mistakes than years past, then so be it. I've beaten this horse to nine deaths. I firmly believe my position. You do yours. Time to move on.
  22. Seriously? Only the most pressing issue needs to be dealt with. Just one per winter is the limit?
  23. It won't hurt to hope HRam heals over the winter (surgery?) and see how he looks next spring. It's not like him holding back Travis is going to make a big difference. If we can sign a DH (JD Martinez?) and maybe a 1Bman like Duda (Awesome vs RHPs), we can go into 2018 with HRam as the platoon 1Bman vs LHPs only with the idea that, if he is healthy and doing well, he can squeeze out Duda or play some DH as JD plays the OF to rest or mini-platoon there. I just don't see HRam as crowding out any great prospect beating down the door. $44M is too much to not at least give him a chance to show anything he might still have in his tank. His 2016 season was not that long ago, and it's not like he's 39 years old.
