  1. This trade was accepted on Baseball Tradevalues: Price, Chavis & Decker for Cueto, Belt, Dubon (pre-arb), Yaz (pre-arb), Gott (pre-arb) The money: Price: $96M/3 JBJ: $11.3M/1 (arb est.) $107M (4 yrs combined) - Lux Tax $42.3M Cueto: $42M/2 ($21.7M x 2 LUX) Belt: $34.2M/2 ($14.6M x 2 LUX) $76.2M (4 yrs combined)- Lux Tax: $35.3M We save $31M and $7M per year on the Lux tax for 2 years, then $31M year 3. I'm not expecting anything from Cueto, but he balances some of Price's money owed. Yaz in Boston might be a nice fit. Belt and Dubon would start at 1B and 2B for 2 yrs (Belt) & 3+ yrs (Dubon). Gott might help the pen.
  2. Here's a look at what the trade simulator site has for player values, salary owed and I added Lux Tax numbers: Trade Values Value -Player -Total Salary Owed/Lux Tax x Yrs Sox -60.0 Price $96M -29.5 Eovaldi $51M -11.0 Sale $123.9M +2.0 Bradley ~$11M +5.6 Walden ~$3.8M +6.0 JD Martinez $23.7 (Opt out?) +12.1 Duran +17.7 Chavis ~$13.7M +18.8 Dalbec +24.6 Barnez ~$24.6M +35.9 Beni ~$33.9M -102.0 Hosmer $102M/ $18M x6 -76.0 Cano $81M $24M x 4 (Unlikely) -60.3 Myers $68.5M/ $13.8M x 3 -53.2 Heywood $86M/ $23M x 4 -40.9 Upton $72M/ $21.2M x 3 -40.4 Cueto $48.7/ $21.7M x 2 -39.3 Pollock $56.0/ $12M x 3 -34.2 Posey $66.4/ $18.6M x 2 -33.4 Longoria $49.5/ $11.6M x 3 -31.1 Carpenter $55.5/ $19.5M x 2 -28.4 Herera $41.7/ $6.1M x 2 -26.7 Odor $37.0/ $8.3 x 3 -25.2 Fowler $33.0/ $16.5M x 2 -25.0 Desmond $25.0/ $14M x 2 -22.7 Zimmerman $25.0/ $22M/1 (with Boyd?) -18.3 Belt $34.4M/ $14.6M x 2 -18.0 McCutchen $40.0M/ $16.7M x 2 -17.5 Cobb $29.0M/ $14.3M x 2 -15.9 Familia $20.0M/ $10M x 2 -14.9 Cain $51.0M/ $16M x 3 -14.7 Duffy $30.5M/ $13M x 2 -14.0 Carrasco $37.2M/ $11.8M x 3 -13.6 Kiermaier $36.0M/ $8.9M x 3 -13.0 Robertson $13.0M/ $11.5M x 1 -12.7 J Kelly $21.7M/ $8.3 x2 -11.5 McGee $11.5M/9.0M x 1 -11.0 Shaw $11.0M/ $9M x 1 -9.0 Chatwood $13M/ $12.7M x 1 -8.7 Herrera (P) $9M/ $9M x 1 -8.6 Kennedy $16.5M/ $14M x 1 -8.4 Cespedes$11.0M/ $6M x 1 -8.3 Lowrie $12.0M/ $10M x 1 -7.2 Cecil $7.2M/ $7.6M x 1 -6.9 Melancon $14M/ $15.5M x 1 -6.5 Reddick $13.0M/ $13M x 1 -0.1 Villar $10.4M/ $9.8M
  3. If we saved enough money by trading JBJ, too, we could sign a FA or two. I still think some sort of Price and ____ for Pollock and Maeda might work best.
  4. This trade was accepted on the simulator site: Price (+$9M), Chavis, Walden, Duran for Upton (owed $72M), Sandoval & 4 minor leaguers: Adams (OF), Jones (2B) Soriano (P) & Ktuger © (Upton's tax hit is $24M, so if we include $9M with Price, we'd save about $7M a year on the tax budget. More likely, we don't include the $9M and don't get Adams -worth 8.4).
  5. I think the point is, he came out of no where to win the title.
  6. I agree, and they should ask for a much higher minimum salary and 5 years of control- but with arbs starting 1 year earlier with a modest lux tax raise. The draft pick penalty may stay.
  7. Or, take back unwanted salary as a partial balance. Price for Myers Price for Odor Price for Pollock (Then, trade JBJ) Price for Herrera Price for _____?
  8. I'd do it. I doubt Philly would without some more money from us. The simulator accepted this: Price, JBJ & Decker for McCutchen, Robertson, Herrera & Marchan © The money? Philly gets Price $32M x 3 and JBJ ~$11M (last arb) BOS gets McCutchen $40M/2, Robertson $11.5M/1, Herrera $20M/2 Lux tax: McCutchen $16.7M x 2 + opt, Robertson $11.5M/1, Herrera $6.1M x 2+ opt It's more of a budget boost to BOS after 2020.
  9. Just trade Price for Myers or Odor and let's move on.
  10. All the sponsorship and endorsement deals are adding to revenues. Rising prices or tickets and concessions can outweigh the loss in attendance, too. NESN might be seeing less viewers but might be able to charge more for ads.
  11. Yes, I just copied MLBTR's (unupdated) page.
  12. Top Remaining Free Agents (MLBTR's List): Player (est contract) 5. Donaldson (75/3) 6. Bumgarner (72/4) 8. Castellano (58/4) 9. Ryu (54/3) 11. Ozuna (45/3) 22. W Harris 18/2 24. 13. There are more ways to make money. You can make more money, even with lower attendance and viewership, as long as the money you make per fan outweighs the amount of fans lost each year.
  14. I'm all for robo umps. I'm all for paying minor league players and ML scrubs much more and possibly mega stars less. I'm hopeful the next contract does that.
  15. We'd have no rings without our farm. The Dodgers won't trade Lux for Lindor or Betts, but yeah, farms don't help teams win. LOL!
  16. You're not joking. You ARE a joke. (I honestly thought you were, or maybe just a troll.) MLB will not go broke paying minor leaguerers triple what they make now. I'm done. Ignoring you is no threat. It's for me not you.
  17. You have got to be joking. If not, it's ignore time.
  18. Don't fall for the elk's alternative facts. We got all those star pitchers because we had a farm full of prospects other teams wanted.
  19. Dan D left Theo with a decent core of young players and prospects. Theo mastered farm building and used the comp pick system and IFA market to build winning seasons after winning season. Many prospects were traded away for key players- other made an impact on the Sox. Nomar Lester Pedey Freddy Sanchez Fossum (Got us Schilling) HRam & A Sanchez (Got us Beckett & Lowell) Shoppach David Murphy Jorge dela Rosa Youkilis Papelbon Ellsbury Lowrie Buchholz Masterson (Got us VMart) D Bard Reddick Kelly (Got us AGon) Tazawa Iggy (Got us Peavy) Bogey Betts JBJ Barnes Alex Wilson Vaz Workman Moncada & Kopech (Sale) Margot, Guerra, Allen (Kimbrell) Espinoza (Pom) Shaw & Dubon (Thornburg) ERod (from BAL) Devers Beni Now, we have Casas Mata Jimenez Dalbec Groome Duran It's no wonder our future looks bleak.
  20. It's "only good" if you have one or two to trade? Did we trade Betts & Bogey? I'm done with this debate or whatever you call it.
  21. ...and Bogey.
  22. If there was proof there is no correlation, you could find it. Here's a positive proof to prove: prove weak farms lead to winning more.
  23. I never said or implied a strong farm means deep or shallow with just a few top prospects. The Sox are a fine example of how a strong farm led to rings we never saw before we had strong farms. Even our weak farm now was what led to the 2018 ring, since we traded away a strong farm to win it.
  24. Prove to me farms don't help teams win. Cite some data.
  25. Lol. Proof is everywhere.
