  1. None of these guys would get big arb raises, but they can easily be replaced with min wage players, saving us a few hundreds of thousands on the budget.
  2. Good to know. This will be our highest pick since the mid 60's.
  3. I thought is was overly optimistic saying we had an equal chance at finishing 81-81 (50% winning %) as 62-100 (38% winning%). We finished with a 40% winning %.
  4. Yes, Lin is out of options, but he is pre-arb, so they may keep him as a min wager on the 26 man opening day roster.
  5. We bounced back at the end and avoided having one of the worst 9 Sox winning percentages of all time. .279 1932 .301 1926 .309 1925 .331 1927 .338 1930 .373 1928 .377 1929 (The worst 7 seasons were within 8 years 1925-1932 and the 1931 season was 12th worst at .408!) .383 1965 (makes the 1967 season all the more magical) .396 1922 .400 2020 .401 1923 .408 1931 .422 1960 .423 1933 .426 2012 .435 1924 .438 2014 .444 1964 .444 1966
  6. Does anybody know, if we will have the 4th pick, or are they adjusting the order?
  7. Here are the arbs for 2021 (2020 salary): ERod ($8.3M) 4 of 4 Barnes ($3M) 3 of 3 Peraza ($2.9M) 3 of 4 (non tendered?) Godley (min) 2 of 3 Plawecki ($900K) 3 of 4 Covey ($692K) 1 of 3 Devers (Min) 1 of 3 Pivetta (Min) 1 of 3 Brasier (Min) 1 of 3 Brice (Min) 1 of 3 (Non tendered?) Verdugo, Weber, Taylor, Walden, Brewer, D Hern & others are pre-arb

  11. The fact that he has never managed a minor league team, makes that choice highly suspect. I think he'd make a great bench coach or maybe even a pitching coach. I've been one of V-Teks biggest supporters and fans, but I'm not sure he's up for this task. If Bloom thinks he is, I'd be fine with the choice.
  12. They won't play MN for at least 2 rounds. They are toast.
  13. I don't think JBJ is back. I think Bloom spends on two 2nd tier FAs and 4-6 one/two year capable, bridge-type players. He keeps $7-10M for summer spending, if called for. That means he spends about $60M on 6-8 FAs. No moves he will make will be designed to hurt our chances in 2022.
  14. 19-41 pit 22-38 tex 23-35 det 24-36 bos 25-35 ari 26-34 col, nym & wsh
  15. Final Sox OPS for 2020 (100+ PAs unless noted): 1.177 Moreland (79 PAs) .959 Dalbec (90) .875 Puello (11) .867 Bogey .857 Plawecki (87) .844 Verdugo .844 Munoz (45) .833 Grullon (4) .814 JBJ .801 Vazquez .795 Pillar .793 Devers .736 Arroyo (54) .680 JD .644 Arauz (79) .636 Chavis .617 Peraza .442 Beni (52) .355 Lin (57)
  16. They extended him through 2024.
  17. I've seen much worse called hits. This play was hard, He was running hard and nearing the wall.
  18. He will likely be limited to 150 IP max.
  19. I could see Odorizzi, Brantley, Rosenthal, Greene and K Wong.
  20. Usually, if there no lunge or extended reach, it's an error.
  21. Options remaining: 0 Vazquez Lin Eovaldi Perez Plawecki Brice Godley Kickham C Arroyo Puello 1 JD Walden Brasier Brewer Weber Peraza Covey Pivetta Munoz 2 Barnes ERod Chavis Taylor DHern Mazza Verdugo Valdez Stock Triggs 3 Bogey Beni Sale Chatham Dalbec Hart Wilson Aybar Arauz Springs Hall Leyer Grullon Tapia Houck Rule 5 Possibilities: Brian Mata Hudson Potts Jay Groome Connor Seabold Jeisson Rosario Connor Wong Bobby Poyner Mike Shawaryn Chad de la Guerra Eduard Bazardo
  22. The one that bugs me the most is when an OF'er makes a long run for a ball and it hits right in the middle of his glove and pops out: error. Another OF'er loses it in the sun and falls right next to him: no error.
  23. Assuming we pass on Bauer and Realmuto, who will we sign? George Springer OF 31 Marcus Stroman RHP 29 Marcell Ozuna DH/OF 30 DJ LeMahieu 2B 32 Taijuan Walker RHP 28 Masahiro Tanaka RHP 32 Robbie Ray LHP 29 Mike Minor 33 Jake Odorizzi RHP 31 James Paxton LHP 32 Joc Pederson OF 28 Michael Brantley OF 33 Justin Turner 3B 36 Tommy La Stella 2B/3B 32 Cespedes 35 or Puig 30 OF Pen: Liam Hendricks RHP 32 Blake Treinen RHP 32 Alex Colome RHP 32 Shane Greene 32 Write-in: _________________
  24. I'm not surprised. Here's the statement: “Throughout this difficult season, Ron’s consistency and professionalism kept the environment in our clubhouse productive and gave all of our players room to grow and develop. While we believe that, moving forward, we will benefit from new leadership and new energy, that does not diminish how strongly we feel about Ron. He is a man of the highest character who cares about our players and the Red Sox organization. As bench coach, he helped this team win a world championship. As manager, he showed poise and leadership in navigating an extremely challenging year. We are grateful for all of his contributions in our uniform.”
  25. Here's another issue: A grounder or lined shot is hit right to an infielder's feet. The ball goes under his glove. Error. A throw is made right to the 1Bman, but at his feet. The ball goes under his glove: Error on the thrower not the 1Bman.
