  1. To some, "history" only begins when the white man began recording it.
  2. He's hit 61 HRs his last 955 ABs (.791 OPS)- 3 yrs. That's better than my expectations for Chavis. His career OPS vs RHPs is .816. (31 HRs per 650 PAs) Moreland is at .782 the last 3 years. He has a .789 career OPS vs RHPs. Adams would have been good depth and might even be better than MM. I'm not worried, because it's a lost season anyways, but I do wonder.
  3. "Bloody history?" What does that mean? More than other areas of the world? It's so clear to anyone with even half a brain much of the Central American problems were and still are fueled by USA attempts at exploiting them. That's not to say tings were rosy beforehand. Democratic leaders were overthrown and replaced by bloody dictators supported by the US. Cuba was no shining star of human rights before Castro, either. (I'm not defending Castro, but look at non-socialist countries in the area.) I lived in Mexico for 4 years and have traveled to many Latin American countries several times. My sister has lived in Brazil for 26 years. I major in political science at Notre Dame and focused on Latin American Studies. That doesn't mean I know more than you or anyone else- the same as living there for 9 years.
  4. Holt might be waiting for a Betts trade to free up space for us to sign him... or not.
  5. It's deals like this that make me scratch my head and wonder.
  6. O's claim Lakins.
  7. Yes, they'll be on the 26 man roster, but they are still huge question marks. Besides, our 40man roster is only 19-20 deep.
  8. He contributed for 2-3 weeks, then hit under .700. (He did keep getting RBIs despite the slump, however.)
  9. Also, look at Honduras, El Salvador, Haiti, Panama and on and on...
  10. Can we stop the political BS? Oppression exists in all sorts of countries with differing governments.
  11. I'm not betting we "see Marco", but unless Chatham is really impressing people, if we ever get to the point where Peraza, Chavis and Lin can't play 2B, Marco is a serious option over Chatham.
  12. We have neither- just a bunch of guys on the outside showing just enough promise to add a sliver of hope. Even Chavis, D Hern & Dalbec are long shots. We've gotten basically nothing since Devers.
  13. Yes, because he knew nobody would claim him and he needs depth. There-s 15-20 players on our 40 man roster that are easily replacable. If Peraza sucks or gets hurt, there's little reason to keep some other clown over Marco. If Bloom really disliked him, why keep him in the system?
  14. If you were our GM, we'd get nothing for Betts- not even a bird in the bush. Betts is great. I'm leading the charge to bring him back by offering him $420M/12 or 10, but he's got one year of team control, right now. Nobody is giving up the world for one year, and rightly so.
  15. That's why I think Betts & Price (or Eovaldi) for Pollock and prospects makes the most sense to both sides.
  16. Perazais our 2Bman with Chavis at back-up. Lin might even be ahead of Chatham on the depth chart. They might even add Marco to the 40 man before Chatham gets a chance.
  17. Verdugo would take Betts's place when he comes back to Boston. I think, if the Dodgers get Betts, they trade Pederson or Taylor... or both.
  18. NO! His contract would help entice the Dodgers to give us more or better prospects.
  19. How's this (accepted by BTV)? Betts & Workman for Verdugo, Kelly & Gonsolin This was also accepted and rated as exactly even to both teams: Betts & Workman for Ruiz, Gonsolin, Stripling, Taylor & Kelly
  20. We might get Gonsolin, Stripling and Cartaya for Betts, but even that is an overpay by BTV. Gonsolin, Stripling and Wong might get it done. If we add Price without taking back negative value (like Pollock and/or Kelly), we'd be lucky to get just one of Gonsolin or Stripling. I'd be happy to get them to take Eovaldi. Betts & Eovaldi for Pollock, Gonsolin, Stripling and Wong.
  21. It's a pipe dream. We won't get 2 of these three, let alone all 3.
  22. I'm not touching this one. I might never get out of that abyss.
  23. It would have been absurd to stop platooning Pederson for the playoffs after doing so for years. Bellinger's platoon was questionable but not absurd. Muncy's was strange, but we don't have all the information.' By the way, did you know the Sox won a ring in 2013 while benching 2 of their top 4 OPS guys that season? .959 Ortiz .842 Napoli .831 Nava (replaced by #9 Gomes .771) .804 Salty (replaced by #16 Ross .681)
  24. This one, yes... Betts for Myers (+$9M) Patino Lucchesi Margot
  25. Not accepted: Betts for Myers (+$18M) Lucchesi Campusano Morejon Matgot
