  1. Agreed, but never count the Rays out. Also, the Dodgers have a long and recent record of coming up short. Should be a good series.
  2. Not sure they would have scored anyways, but yes, it seemed to deflate the Braves.
  3. We gave $217/7 to Price 4 years ago. If we gave the same to Betts, we'd be in a sense adding $148M for his last 5 years.
  4. Even if he's worth $10M/yr for his last 3 years, he's still worth $31M x 12. $180M/3 $150M/3 $60M/3 $30M/3 Total: $420M/12 Here's a more conservative view: $120M/2 $95M/2 $80M/2 $40M/2 $20M/2 $10M/2 Total $365M/12 It's hard to doubt the second valuation. It seems "light" to me.
  5. I look at it this way: he's likely "worth" $50-60M a year for the next 4-6 years, $30M/yr for the next 2-4 years, and $20M/yr the last 2-4 years.
  6. Just a minor omission... LOL.
  7. Okay. You didn't say last best talent. Boggs had a very unique talent, and he greatly improved his D as he matured.
  8. Clemens, Yaz, Teddy
  9. Weel, Trout was never part of our organization, so to me, Betts was "a once in a lifetime talent" with the Sox, and we couldn't afford to keep him. Thanks Dave. We paid Price $31M x 7, Sale $26M x 5 and HRam/JD $22M/yr x 4 and 5 yrs, but $30.4M x 12 was too much for the best of the best.
  10. Wanna know how much I care who wins, tonight? I'm going to bed.
  11. I hate the Dodgers and almost always root for the underdog or upstart team, but I can't get myself to root for the Braves. I'd like to see Mookie do well, but I don't really care who wins. I want the Rays to win it all.
  12. Time for Mookie to step it up.
  13. I liked Stroman, but I wasn't expecting that price tag.
  14. It is a business. ERod has made millions, already- not that it matters. Nobody will think any less of the Sox, if the non tender a player unable to play. If that's true, the whole NFL is heartless.
  15. If they know he cannot play, there's nothing heartless about non tendering him.
  16. This could be a rare case where that comes into play, if a health concern is heightened by then.
  17. I'd rather have that than Pillar at $9M/2 or JBJ at $13M/2, but then again, he's an arb cost player, so it's understandable. I like his D.
  18. I'd rank these signings and numbers, in terms of who I'd sign as the Sox GM like this: 1. Semien (not thrilled with this guys, but way cheaper than Bauer & Stroman) 2. Brantley (not thrilled with signing a corner OF'er over CF, but the money seems better than others, here) 3. Turner (move Devers to 1B and trade Dalbec?) 4. Stroman (too expensive, but likely a better deal than Bauer) 5, Bauer (close call) 6. Springer (close but a no-go for me) 7. LeMahieu (need a 2Bman but not at this cost) 8. Cruz (don't need a DH) 9. Realmuto (most catchers crash hard as they age)
  19. The Sox are 4-0 in their last 4 World Series trips after losing their previous 4 WS all by 4-3 margins. The Sox went 16-3 in those 4 series, not losing a cumulative number of games to lose even one series! Another interesting fact about once you make the playoffs, it's a "crap shoot." Not so much for the Sox since 2004. We've made the playoffs 9 times and won it all in 4 of them! Of the 5 times we did not win it all, we only made the ALCS, once (and lost it 4-3). That 15 years stretch (2004-2018) was amazing. We made the playoffs 60% of the time and won it all 27% of the time- nearly one out of 3 years! We came close in 2003,losing the ALCS 4-3, so if you count 2003, we made the playoffs 10 out of 16 times (63%), the ALCS 6/16 (38%) and the WS 25% of the time. Let's hope Bloom sets us on the way for something similar to that!
  20. All good points. That being said, I wish he was on our roster.
  21. That, too!
  22. Way to play- Rays!
  23. That's how I see it. Whenever I don't really care about either team in a playoff series, I almost always root for the underdog or team that "deserves it" most. Lately,I've been rooting more for the local teams, here in Houston, but not these bunch of cheating SOB's!
  24. The Rays in the World Series. Thanks, Bloom.
  25. thegamehaus projects these FA contracts: $200M/7 Bauer $185M/6 Realmuto $150M/6 Springer $140M/6 Stroman $90M/4 LeMahieu $85M/5 Semien $45M/3 Brantley $25M/2 Turner $15M/1 N Cruz
