  1. I'm thinking Kiermaier from TB would be a possible deal. With his contract, we may be able to get a SP'er (Yarbrough or Fleimng) or RP'er (Anderson would be great but Fairbanks more likely) without needing to give up all that much.
  2. Nothing compares to winning rings from 2004 to 2018, but my favorite times being a baseball fan was from 1975-1978.
  3. While true, I would not be happy with Chavis as our only 1Bman. (Maybe we sign Moreland, if Dalbec is traded.) I'm higher on Dalbec than most. His K rate does not bother me, because he has a good OBP.
  4. Chavis is part of almost every trade I suggest an BTV, for just that reason. He is over-valued.
  5. He's never hit over 25 Hrs and never had an OPS over .825. For an OF'er, 3B or 1B, that's not great enough to sign for a mega deal, IMO. As a catcher, those are great numbers.
  6. We could start balancing our our roster by trading Chavis. (Some might say Dalbec, too, but not me.)
  7. The issue is that Realmuto is a great hitting catcher, but he is not so great, in comparison, at 1B. He's not worth mega dollars & years as a 1Bman.
  8. I'm surprised the anti high K rate posters haven't bashed this signing, yet.
  9. I've always been a firm believer in splits, despite some players going against their normal splits from time to time. Some feel benching beni vs LHPs will take him out of sinc or destroy his confidence. To me, hitting .600 vs LHPs will destroy anyone's confidence.
  10. I agree. I learned my lesson after hoping we got Mauer back in the day. Look at Posey, too. Only a very select few age well.
  11. I'm not saying I am for this idea, but since big splash signings like Bauer and Springer seem unlikely, what about this... We trade Vaz to TB for Kiermaier & Yarbrough and Fairbanks. We sign Realmuto & another SP'er and call it a winter day.
  12. Agreed. He's a 40+ HR player, if given enough PAs. The .228 career BA & .290 career OBP are very troubling, but for a platoon/4th OF'er, it's a good sign. (He has a .339 OBP vs LHPs.)
  13. 122 ABs. (Also 8 Hrs in 122 is on pace for 40 in 610 ABs.)
  14. It seems to be happening a lot, lately. Travis Shaw Moustakas Chavis ...
  15. Maybe we could try that Eduardo Rodriguez guy.
  16. So, bench Dalbec?
  17. If Odorizzi gets ace money, then I hope it's not us paying it. There are a few SP'ers not far from his skill level, so maybe waiting, then pouncing on a desperate pitcher may work out best. Anybody know what good SP'ers are available, next winter>
  18. I'd move CF down, now too, but I'm not sure it makes the "non urgent" list. I see Renfroe as more of a 4th OF'er type or more like my #8 on the list than the #3 on the list- kinds in between, though.
  19. Since we are talking about 5-7 year deals, maybe 4, how often is "the exception?" Every 4-7 years? Basically having one on the books at any given time, but never 2 or more?
  20. I see it more like this: LF: Beni-Renfroe CF: Verdugo or Other RF: Verdugo- Renfore or Other The "Other" will determine a lot.
  21. We are assuming we add another OF'er- likely a CF'er, but it could be a RF'er, if we want Verdugo in CF. Renfroe would be the LF platoon with Beni and back up OF'er for RF. (Renfroe is not bad vs RHPs, especially in terms of power.) I guess you could call him a platoon/4th OF'er. I suppose an in-system 4th OF'er could be Duran, but he need to play to grow. Chavis might be able to learn LF well enough to not be a big negative. Munoz is off the 40 man roster, so we'd have to make room for him there. Maybe we sign Pillar or Marisnik. Maybe we trade for Kiermaier.
  22. Beni in LF. Career splits: .821 v RHPs .691 v LHPs Renfroe in LF .912 v LHPs .717 v RHPs Adjusted to 162 games: Renroe v LHP: .258 47 97 A Beni v RHPs: .283 16 82
  23. I like the signing. He may play LF vs LHPs and some RF vs some RHPs. I'm not sure Verdugo is a sure bet for CF. he said, "If the season started, today..." I think we acquire a defensive CF'er- maybe Kiermaier.
  24. That's what we do call ourselves- but only in private and after a binge.
  25. Agreed. It's too bad most of us will have to wait until March, April or May for our turn.
