  1. It's just street corner talk- pay it no mind.
  2. Buyer-buyer trades are more difficult and nearly impossible at deadline, but not winters. Not all winter trades are MLB players for prospects. ML'er for ML'ers are not plentiful, and some are more salary dumps than good player for good player, but they do happen. I've never said the odds are this deal gets done. I do think HOU will trade Paredes, and they are a win now team, so that does set up the situation I am suggesting. They won't trade him for prospects.
  3. I'm giving them a win now return. I guess they can put Altuve in LF again.
  4. The main reason I think a trade can work is that I am nearly certain IP will be traded somewhere. I'm less certain we will trade an OF'er, so that is one reason why I kinda shake my head when people act like the Sox should come down on their offer, because they are "desperate" or "more in need" of this trade. We can DH Duran over Masa. HOU is not DH'ing Paredes over Yordan.
  5. News out of STL: Bloom is seeking an OF'er! Too bad we let Franchy go- maybe we could have gotten Wynn for him!
  6. They want you to think they are not in the know.
  7. There is talk about changing the name from "Pandora's Box" to Fred's Box.
  8. I think we can add him and not go over line 3. JH should be okay with that. There’s also a 2027 club option on the deal worth $13.35MM That's a good deal and team-friendly.
  9. There have been a lot of OF'ers traded in 2 years. Maybe it's just Brez being tight or overvaluing our OF'ers. Maybe other GM are undervaluing them. Maybe they know the correct value, and we do not.
  10. They tried Altuve in LF, last year and they gave up. They are NOT trading Altuve or Walker. They are not trading Pena or Correa. Paredes can play 3B or 2B, and even 1B, but I think we'd put him at 3B. Just my guess. They could put Mayer at 3B and paredes at 2B- fine with me.
  11. That is normally the case, but a team like HOU wants Yordan at DH FT and has 5 infielders. They want to win, now and need an OF'er real bad- about as badly as we need a 3Bman.
  12. Pre-ARB or was that the ARB ruling? That was about what was projected and $1.5M more than Duran's AAV.
  13. The Sox probably have one pitcher HOU thinks is one minor tweak away from a Cy Young Award. (It's probably not Bello.) They clearly need an OF'er. Word is they really like Abreu- the guy they gave up for Vazquez.
  14. How about Arias, Witherspoon & DHam for Wynn?
  15. I've heard no talk on that... strange.
  16. Realistically, maybe Eaton offers the best platoon and back up option for 3B, but hey, I was willing to roll the dice with E Suarez at 3B for a full year, so why should Romy at 3B scare me this much? 2B is easier to fill than 3B, although out putrid record at 2B since 2018 shows otherwise. I'm pretty sure HOU wants Abreu and would give us Paredes. I just think the hang-up is with the Sox not wanting to trade Wilyer, wanting Duran to go instead, or wanting something with Paredes that HOU just won't add what we want, if anything (yet.) I really do not want to give up 4 years of Abreu for 2 from Paredes. I think Paredes + King is fair, but maybe Brez wants more or HOU says no.
  17. Nope. They locked up Devers' glove and chiseled DH ONLY on his statue.
  18. If Suzuki DHs, I think they have room. Ballesteros could DH. (I doubt he beats out Busch for 1B.) They lost Tucker, but still have... LF: Happ (Shaw?) CF: Crow-Armstrong RF: ____ or Suzuki, Alcantara or M Shaw Maybe Abreu, Harrison & Sandoval for Shaw?
  19. The 2 open slots on the 40 offer some hope.
  20. He's just trading 1 not all 3. We have 4 OF'ers. Trade Duran: LF Anthony, CF Deddanne, RF Abreu Trade Abreu: LF Duran, CF Ceddanne, RF Anthony Trade Rafaela: LF Duran (Anthony) CF: Duran (Anthony) RF Abreu 4th OF: Campbell or Masa
  21. A third team might help fit the needs between HOU & BOS, and it's always hard to know if talks have broken down or just put on hold as one team seeks a better deal elsewhere. We just don't know. I'm not so sure the Cubs need an OF'er, but they did lose Tucker and like Suzuki at DH, so they may have a need and an "extra" infielder to spare after signing Breggie. Maybe KCR or NYY need OF help, but likely don't match up giving us an infielder. There was word Chisholm was being shopped. Do the Cubs trade us Shaw for Abreu or Duran? I still like Duran or Abreu for Paredes + one from King, Sousa, Janek or maybe B Abreu.
  22. It's not like we didn't try to fix 2B a few times. K Campbell was the shiny "suspect," last year... OUCH! Grissom was a gamble, for sure, but he was supposed to be a decent gamble. E Valdez was never good on D, but when his bat failed... poof, he was gone. DHam was never a serious hope, despite his half a good season back in '24. Arroyo, Holt and that one partial season by Story were the best we've had since 2018. If we didn't need Kike in CF and later at SS (YUCK!) he might have been okay. It's rather astounding that since 2018, the Sox have not had one player get more than 550 PAs at 2B! 544 Arroyo, 412 Holt, 396 Story, 375 Nunez, 304 Kike 277 DHam, 254 Chavis, , 227 Campbell, 194 Romy 141 Kinsler, 131 Marco, 119 Marwin, 109 Grissom, 100 PReyes. 100 Ceddanne 91 Arauz, 89 Peraza, 88 Urias, 73 Sogard, 51 Iggy, 44 Yolmer, 39 Westbrook, 36 Lin 5 guys between 23-29 Total clown circus.
  23. Yes, many teams fall into one or both of those categories, but we do know a few teams need an OF'er and many teams need a SP'er- even if a #4 or 5 type.
  24. Mayer/Romy at 2B makes me feel more at ease. If Mayer gets hurt... If Mayer needs a platoon... Yes, let's try to keep Romy off 3B. Since our DH may need a platoon, we can do that instead. If Mayer plays 3B, we may platoon Romy at 2B, depending on who the "other guy" is. Paredes makes too much sense, to me.
  25. Agreed. To me, there is no reason we can't add a real good 3B/2Bman by offering what we want from our 2 logjam areas: OF and SP depth.
