  1. I like mayer at 2B better, where he can be readily and more functionally platooned with Romy, if needed. That's why I want Paredes as the #1 possible option. Matt Shaw might be my #2.
  2. Or he plays 3B until Story moves on or is moved to 2B. (Arias might have a say in that, too.)
  3. Yainer is a better hitting catcher than Narvaez rates to be.
  4. BTV accepted this one a few days ago... Sandoval, Harrison & Azocar for Hoerner Fan rating 5-2 yes for BOS and 3-3 yes for CHC.
  5. BTV accepts Abreo for Paredes and Kevin Alvarez. This, too: Abreu, DHam & Wong for Paredes, K Alvarez & B King.
  6. BTV accepts Abreu & Narvaez for Paredes, Yainer Diaz & Byran King. Do you? Diaz & Paredes hit about 25 Hrs per 650.
  7. If it was Bello for Paredes, a third team would be needed- someone with an extra OF'er. HOU is not trading Yordan.
  8. I would much rather pin my hopes on any two from these guys filling the 4-5 rotation slots than counting on DHam at 2B. Oviedo, Crawford, Sandoval, Harrison, Tolle & Early. I'm at the point where Bello looks like the logical "give." I feel pretty good about those 6 to fill 2 slots and any injuries. After DHam, we have Sogard & Eaton. I don't count Romy, because he may be DH'ing and playing 1B, some, and would likely only play 2B vs LHPs. DHam is the worst vs LHPs, out of Masa (DH), Contreras (1B) and Mayer (3B). Maybe Romy wins the FT 2B job. We should not bank on it.
  9. I'd prefer we fix the roster issue AND improve the offense. Improving the D, too would be even nice. That being said, I like Paredes better on O than Duran and Abreu, but it's very close. Getting Paredes and keeping all 4 OF'ers would be the best end result for the offense, other than KMarte- who is not being traded. I'd love Bello as our #4, but if that who HOU demands, I'd do it. (Maybe get Sousa back.)
  10. Nothing has changed, since then. Some teams still need an OF'er. We still need a 2B/3Bman. Maybe a 3rd team will be needed.
  11. That was one reason I still liked getting E Suarez. We could still trade Duran for Paredes and King and have this: R Paredes L Anthony R Contreras R Suarez DH L Abreu R Story L Mayer R Narvaez R Rafaela
  12. A guy like Matt Shaw and his 4 years of control looks a lot better than 1 year of Hoerner, to me.
  13. We still have the same issue with our 5 slot with Duran or not. I happen to like Paredes on O more than Duran. The 2 years to 3 is what makes me want King, too. It's a sideways move on O, but balances the logjam and balances the roster.
  14. I really thought Marte would put us top 3-4, and that was before we added Suarez. I still do. I might even offer more that for Marte- like adding Valera or Romero. Not sure that does it. They probably want Tolle, Early and Harrison... maybe Romy, too.
  15. He wouldn't, and I'm for trading Duran or Abreu for someone like Paredes (plus King,) so he's a top 4 line-up guy. Does this cure the "roster imbalance?" 1. L Anthony LF/RF 2. R Contreras 1B 3. L Abreu RF or L Duran LF 4. R Paredes 3B 5. R Story SS (Of course I'd prefer Duran or Abreu here, but the RHB Paredes add doesn't change this slot.) 6. L Masa/Casas DH or R Romy/Campbell DH 7. R Narvaez C 8. L Mayer 3B/ R Romy 3B 9. R Rafaela C Add LHP B King to the pen.
  16. I'd prefer that, too. Masa is a separate issue.
  17. And it can be instantly fixed with an OF'er for Paredes + BKing trade.
  18. 1. Yes. 2. No, if we do #1. The farm is more than fine. The lack of everyday top prospects is not a major concern, since almost all our 13 players on the 26 are under team control for 3+ years.... many for 5-9. If anything, our pitching is logjammed.
  19. All the more reason to trade him. No way am I DH'ing Abreu or Rafaela, so Duran can run around misjudging fly balls. I also think Anthony is much better on defense.
  20. I wanted ES more than most and more after Alonso signed than right before he signed with SEA. I disliked his defense but think the need for a power RHB was and still is too high to not want him. Plus, he was the last big bat standing. If he could hit .790 with 30+ bombs, I could handle his defense for one year and 140+ games. (Hell, if Contreras gets hurt he might have played there, instead. If Mayer & Romy do great, maybe we could have DH'd him more.
  21. This is why I think we will do something significant, but not likely big enough to satisfy Drew and Fred. (Maybe not me, either.)
  22. Rafaela is my favorite Sox player, and I even have suggested trading him, so as not to hurt the offense. I think we agree more than not. I'd prefer not trading Bello, Tolle or Early for a decent infielder, and trading anyone less valuable will likely not get a guy we really think will give us a big boost. Crawford + DHam? Harrison or Oviedo or Sandoval + Mullins? Is that enough?
  23. No way anyone wants to trade Duran for lower return. I think notin is the only one suggesting prospects be a part of the return value.
  24. We disagree on who is in the smaller pool. To me, the Astros are desperate for an OF'er by as much as we are for a 3B/2Bman. Paredes has less yrs and a higher AAV than Duran, Abreu and Rafaela. Why are we the ones needing to cave and get lower value back?
  25. Which is a better offense? DH Duran 3B Mayer/Romy 2B DHam/Romy or DH Masa/Casas/Romy 3B Paredes/Shaw 2B Mayer/Romy
