  1. That's not Ole Red speculating, is it? lol
  2. Word is the NYM won't go past 3 years for Alonso. 4 years for the 31 year old crappy defensive 1Bman who has played 162 games for 2 straight seasons? OPS+ 144 and 130 last 3 years 40 HRs per 162 since '22 4-5 years for a good defensive 3Bman who turns 32 in March? OPS+ 128 and 121 last 3 years 27 HRs per 162 since '22 __________________ Since Mayer can play 3B or 2B, it's really about replacing Casas with Alonso or Romy/DHam at 2B over Mayer/Romy with Bregman. __________________ I'd go with Alonso for 4 years over Bregman for 4-5 years. Close call.
  3. Fangraphs had him at a $33M value- certainly up for debate. His differed money was apparently worth $32.6M- also a debatable number. We probably don't make the playoffs, so what was that worth? (Certainly up for debate.)
  4. Good points, and maybe Crawford is more like the guy from mid July> than the one from before, but with the state of pitching in MLB, he'd probably be a #4 or 5 on many team- maybe a #3 on few, assuming he sticks to his 4.35 FIP.
  5. Yup, a single A suspect. Open roster slot for _____.
  6. Staying even is a losing strategy.
  7. $30M x 5 years for an old foggie!
  8. This guy is pretty damn good, but missed some time, last year. He's at the age where maybe he explodes. HOU traded Tucker for this guy (and other.) I really like Tolle and Early, but I'd consider trading one for him.
  9. Report says BOS interested in Paredes. HOU interested in Tolle or Early. Paredes turns 27 soon. He has 90 HRs in his last 2031 PAs (since '22.) That's almost 30 over 650. He has a .793 OPS since '23. Career: .805 v L and .754 v R
  10. Because we love bounce back pitching promises.
  11. I'm always okay with a plus defender at SS, and if we address our RHB need at 1B or 3B, I'm fine with Kim.
  12. Yes, we all know this, and again, I'm not a member of BTV.
  13. Someone asked who else we might want. I answered. It ain't happening.
  14. $40M under? Burns is $33M AAV and KMarte is about $18M. Masa $18, Duran $8M & Hicks $10M.
  15. They would not, but I was assuming we'd also add more to the package, too.
  16. I do worry about Kim's .701 OPS (.685 since '24,) but the D would be nice- up the middle. The corner infield D is worse with Mayer (not Bregman) at 3B and Alonso at 1B (not Lowe/Romy.)
  17. Add Masa and Hicks and get Burns added on?
  18. Why even have rankings before the final one, if they mean nothing? ND was better than MIA last week. Neither played a game, nor saw their strength of schedule improve or decline due to games player. Now, they hand it to MIA (and ALA.) How does ALA lose and jump over an idle ND?
  19. MIA didn't even earn the right to play in their conference championship game!
  20. I heard you the first two times! LOL. I could see the Sox looking to sign shorter, maybe not 1 year deals, for a guy like Merrill Kelly, E Suarez or Polanco. Maybe two of 'em.
  21. True, but is he okay playing 2B? Will Cora dare ask him to? Will Brez have to fly to his hometown to ask if he might think about it? Seriously, though. We need more power than he can give, and a sub .800 OPS isn't worth what he'll get paid.
  22. It does seem to be a common occurence.
  23. It's interesting how you keep pretending to know what I value. There is a reason I keep suggesting Crawford as an add on to trade suggestions. I don't think he'll "make or break" our season, too. Something we agree on. GMs certainly value years of control, if they like a player. I have no idea if TB likes Crawford, or not. Nobody thought they'd "like" Beeks enough to give up Nate or Springs enough to give up a promising catcher prospect. err... suspect, but they did.
  24. Could be! I ask a question, assuming we only have one major non pitcher addition. Which of these positions is most likely to be left to in-system options? 1B: Casas, Romy, Campbell 2B: Mayer, Romy, DHam, Sogard (Campbell?) 3B: Mayer, Romy, Sogard, Eaton (Note: Mayer can play only one position, at a time, so the 2B/3B choice is really Romy/Sogard/DHam) I'd say we need 2B or 3B more than 1B, but Alonso can hit better than Polanco, Bregman or Bichette.
