  1. No bad. My no trade plan might be: $20M E Suarez 3B $16M M Kelly SP $8M Hoskins 1B With Duran for Lodolo (saves $3M): $28M Schwarber DH $14M Polanco 2B $8M Hoskins 1B Or $27M Alonso 1B $14M Polanco 2B $8M Fairbanks RP
  2. MLB.com has these contract projections: $27.5M x 4 Alonso $27M x 7 Cease $27M x 5 Schwarber $26.7M x 6 Bregman $26M x 8 Bichette $25M x 6 Imai $23M x 5 Ranger Suarez $22.5M x 8 Murakami $22.5M x 1 Torres $22M x 3 Woodruff $21M x 3 E Suarez $20M x 4 M King & Gallen $18M x 5 Naylor $18M x 2 M Kelly $16M x 4 Okamoto $16M x 3 Robert Suarez $16M x 2 Giolito $15M x 2 H-S Kim & realmuto $14M x 3 Polanco $13M x 3 O'Hearn 12.5M x 2 N Martinez $12M x 2 Arraez & Littell $7M x 2 Caratini & Willi Castro No trades... At $47M: 21 E Suarez, 14 Polanco & 12 N Martinez
  3. With JH, I doubt we can bring Breggie back and pay for a bigger bat, too.
  4. MLB.com released it's top 50 FA list and here are the players listed with Sox predictions: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/11/2025-26-top-50-mlb-free-agents-with-predictions.html 3. Cease $189M/7 4. Murakami $180M/8 (Bregman at #5 at $160M/6 was not projected by anyone to be a Sox signing.) 20. E Suarez $63M/3 Polanco was not listed by anyone as Sox bound, but getting Suarez ($21M AAV) + Polanco $14M AAV) would keep us easily under the tax line. We could likely add Matz and Ref. If we signed Suarez & Polanco and also traded Duran for Ryan, we'd add $3-4M to the roughly $10M left to spend and stay under the line. What can we get for $13-14M AAV? O'Hearn, Realmuto, N martinez, Arraez, Littell or maybe Hoskins or bell plus Matz. 1. L Anthony LF 2. S Polanco 2B 3. L Abreu RF 4. R Suarez 3B 5. S Josh Bell 1B 6. R Story SS 7. L Yoshida DH/ R Romy DH 8. R Narvaez C 9. R Rafaela CF We could also play Mayer at 3B, Suarez at 1B and DH Bell.
  5. Agreed, and while it might help to have some of MLB's best #6, 7, 8 and 9 SP'ers on the roster, it's not what wins a team rings. We need a very solid #2 and probably more, but I think the best we can hope for is one, so I'd like him to be as close to ace status as we can afford to go or trade for. I like the idea of Anthony in LF (better on D than Duran) Rafaela in CF (GG) and Abreu in RF (GG.) I hate the idea of trading a top 3 offensive weapon on the team, when another high need is offense, but trading Duran just makes too much sense to not do it. Duran for Lodolo makes a lot of sense. If we could trade Garcia and Sandlin for M Keller, I'd do that too, but we may need budget space for 2 big bopper bats.
  6. I am 100% advocating we add a solid #2 SP'er and normally would be asking for a #3, too, but our lack of two big bats has pushed that ask down a couple notches. 1. Crochet 2. _____ (Ryan, Lodolo, Lopez) 3. Bello 4. Sandoval/Dobbins/Crawford 5. Sandoval/Dobbins/Crawford/Harrison (Early/Tolle, later on)
  7. I agree. I would not project a 2 WAR for Crawford or Dobbins, either. I also did say if all are healthy. Having more time off, due to not pitching at he end of May may or may not help Sandoval. (Wow, 3 "mays" in 4 words.) He never even got 1 IP in rehab. That is scary. Maybe it's more about my lack of confidence in Crawford and Dobbins, who by the way, are also recovering from injuries.
  8. The last 3 are pretty close. I slot Sandoval 3rd, because he has a couple years of pitching well. Crawford has one and Dobbins 1/3 of one. Sandoval had an ERA+ of 132 from '21-'22 in 41 GS. 3.17 ERA and 3.44 FIP His 2023 season was iffy, but still a 109 ERA+ (4.11 ERA/4.18 FIP) 4.07 FUIP '23-24. I think the 29 year old has some upside.
  9. I hesitate to remove a GG player from a critical position like CF. I think Anthony would be okay in the OF, but I'd prefer trying Duran (the worst defensive OF'er of the 4) at 1B than move Rafaela. I'd also prefer to trade Rafaela than play him in the infield. His value to another team in CF has to have more trade vale than him at SS or 2B for us. (I'd choose 2B, if I had to.) Also, I do not think Rafaela is a salary drain, but trading him does free up $6.25M on the tax line. (Duran $7.7 and Campbell $7.5M, while Abreu is still pre-arb!)
  10. On paper, yes, and assuming everyone is healthy. Not because I see him as a #3, but because his history places him there. 1. Crochet 2. Bello 3. Sandoval 4. Crawford/Dobbins 5. Dobbins/Crawford/Harrison
  11. Casas seems to have a lot of confidence.
  12. Funny! Not even close to reality! 170 PAs is the cutoff to get 30 qualifying DHs. Only 11 were over .800 (6 with 300+ PAs and 4 ver 360 PAs) It's about his PAs. If he gave us 400+ PAs at .800, he'd have been the 5th best DH in MLB in 2025.
  13. Huh? He was over .800 in 2 seasons- his two longest ones. (Okay 2 over .7994) '24 worst K rate (32%) .800 '23 second worst (25%) .856 '22 second best (24.2%) .766 just 95 PAs '25 best K rate (24%) .580 in just 11 PAs
  14. Yes, I get the point. I think we keep 1 catcher, a 4th OF'er and twi IF'er. One is DHam- the other is Sogard over Eaton, because of SS ability level.
  15. I think Grissom goes before ST'ing. I kinda think we will try to keep Criswell, Moran and Wink into ST'ing. That may mean trading others to make room for new additions to the 40 and 26. Sogar or Eaton can go (tarded or DFA's), when we sign an infielder. When we add a pitcher or to, I think we'll trade one or two (like Murphy, Kelly or Fitts/Harrison/Perales or a better pitcher in a package for a #2 SP'er.
  16. Okay. Got it. One could just as easily said ... not, because Cora dislikes to platoon. That’s my point. as saying.... not, because Cora likes to platoon. That’s my point. It kinda sounded like you think he dislike more than likes, but I'm glad you cleared that up. Yes, injuries have created more platoon opportunities- also just having our chose 2B suck outright. Arauz didn't get hurt. E Valdez didn't get hurt- he just had awful splits. Chavis, marco, Grissom, Reyes. peraza, Nunes (2019) and others. Sometimes, it was hard to know who our starting 2Bman was supposed to be on opening day. That's how bad it was. It was some of those situations where Cora chose a platoon, because he "liked" that over a straight play with a crappy player FT. It wasn't an injury in many cases, too.
  17. Moran has good stuff. Wink seems to do better than his stuff indicates. I think Criswell may be the first to go, but he's the one who was just signed.
  18. Not nearly as many. That has nothing to do with Cora liking or disliking platoons. Sure, it probably increased them, but so what?
  19. What is the "wasteful" rate on Japanese pitchers vs American, Dominican, or _____?
  20. Agreed. For a long time, I've been suggesting we trade for a solid SP (Ryan or Lodolo- last resort M Keller) and use the money for big bats.
  21. I agree. I'm not sure about Imai, but he seems like a better gamble than others being talked up.
  22. I think what gives him an edge is that he's not as bad at SS as DHam & Grissom and other options. We should never be forced to play Rafaela at SS (or 2B)
  23. Did we misinterpret this... Cora likes to platoon. 2B is a different kind of situation where no one has been able to play halfway decent to stay there, and not, because Cora likes to platoon. That’s my point.
