  1. I such a short time, too.
  2. What if Santana keeps hitting well? 1.212 OPS last 3 games .785 last 8 games
  3. Amazing! It can’t be a fluke. It also shows how some players can do better under more stressful conditions.
  4. I’m with you, Max! 100%
  5. “Have been” implies past tense.
  6. so many Sox teams from the distant past would have found a way to lose last night’s game. This team finds different ways of winning on almost a daily basis. Call it “mojo,” “chemistry” or whatever, but this season seems almost magical, except that the word magical implies we are more lucky than skilled. Speaking just for myself, I often feel like I get a sense of how the season will turn out by June or July. Unlike many other losing seasons where I cling to glimmers of hope to the last minute, I was one of the first to give up on the 2019 team. It’s not something I’m proud of, but I just got a strong feeling very early that we just didn’t have it in us. I was not overly. Incident about 2021. I projected 86 wins and felt we might compete for a playoff slot if close to everything went right. I called this “a bridge year” where we could afford to play all our bubble players to find out which ones were keepers, or at least come close to knowing about most of the fringe guys and maybe a few prospects along the way. Winning has kept us from doing some of this, but who is complaining. This has been a very enjoyable season, especially coming out of the cocoon many of us have been in for a year plus. I’m liking our chances for a 2021 ring more and more. I’m not feeling like we are the favourites, but other really good teams have as many issues as we do. Winning this west coast trip would boost my confidence even more! Keep the mojo risin ’!
  7. Max is on a roll. I will add that our streak started a bit after the commish mandate came out.
  8. Let’s be honest. I’m thinking maybe one or two posters thought the Sox rotation was even equal to the Yanks, when the season started. It wasnt just media outlets projecting 100 wins for the Yanks. BTW, many stats and metrics show the Yankee starters are doing better than ours. It’s really their offence that has been unexpectedly bad. We knew their D sucked like ours. We knew their pen was great. Ours has been shockingly good even to the biggest homer fans around. Yes, the games are played on the field not on paper, but we all expected the Yanks to be much better than this.
  9. No doubt they were gambles, but they seemed like better gambles than most other teams including Perez, Pivetta, Richards...
  10. Arroyo still to prove he’s a keeper, but what’s not to like, so far- other than injuries? Vaz has been around .800 from 2019-2020, so hoping for .750 for the second half of 2021 is not a stretch. Dalbec remains the biggest wildcard- biggest upside and maybe downside, too. Maybe Cordero can help at 1B. Maybe, a Duran call-up can allow Kike to help at 1B & 2B some. Gotta like the way things are looking going into the holiday!
  11. There is still a lot of season left, so we may know more, later, but with COVID, we don't know about issues arising years from now. Neither do other teams, so maybe ERod realizes that and will extend with us at a reasonable amount. Can any of us know what is reasonable under these circumstances.
  12. His contract is barely 1/4 over, yet he was judged harshly by many. Even at his worst, he was only 80 points below his career OPS
  13. I still think the uncertainty of COVID long term effects will cause the Sox to pass on ERod
  14. I get as frustrated as anyone here. Sometimes I have to convince myself to take the long view. Players rarely follow patterns based on just what they have done, lately. Look at Santana, now. I may end up eating the same crow some of you all have on ERod. Of course, ERod went like 48-12 before this recent funk, so I had reason to think he may not have been toast. The whole long term COVID effects are largely unknown. Some have felt better then feel weak again. He may slide again, but I’m hopeful he’s back for good.
  15. Ain’t it a wonderful thing?
  16. I don't think they re-sign ERod, as of now. The Perez option looks better.
  17. I'm sorry. Stay cool, harmony. Stay cool.
  18. Toronto is looking like they might give the Rays a run for the money.
  19. Here's how I'd simplify the 2022 roster: The 26 SP1 Sale SP2 __FA__ SP3 Eovaldi SP4 Pivetta SP5/6 Perez/Whitlock RP1 __FA__ (Barnes?) RP2 __FA__ (Ottavino?) RP3 Houck RP4 Sawamura RP5 DHernandez RP6 Brasier RP7 Taylor C Vazquez/Plawecki 1B Dalbec/Cordero 2B Kike/Arroyo 3B Devers SS Bogey LF Verdugo CF Duran RF Renfroe DH Martinez The 40 (14 not on 26) Valdez Bazardo Mata Seabold Groome Wong R Hernandez Rosario Duran- Rule 5 Downs- Rule 5 Bello- Rule 5 Jimenez- Rule 5 Winckowski- Rule 5 + 1 from the Bubble: TWard- Rule 5 Ort- Rule 5 T Reed- Rule 5 Arauz Potts Rios FGerman- Rule 5 DFeltman- Rule 5 Gone: Erod, Barnes, Ottavino, Richards, Marwin Chavis (maybe traded this summer), Workman, M Wilson, Santana, Andriese
  20. IMO, our “deadline deals” will be Sale, Houck, Brasier and a minor deal fora RPer and or 1Bman- nothing that forces us to give up any important prospect or two.
  21. I get that, but this shows they know he is ready or very close to being ready.
  22. They will give it a chance at exactly the right moment in time.
  23. I’m not sure much can mess with his mind, but he sure has played good D recently.
  24. I was in a hurry and forgot a couple minor additions!
