  1. Agreed. Why give a prospect for someone making FA money?
  2. Last night, Duran, Cordero and Downs combined to go 0-12. 0-5 Duran 0-4 Cordero, BB 0-3 Downs, BB
  3. We'd still need a set up man or two. Also, is it a safe bet Chapman>Barnes?
  4. MLB.com projects: Mayer Leiter Lawlar Watson Davis Rocker Jobe House
  5. At their pace, maybe the Yankees pick third, next year. (LOL)
  6. It's not just about pitch-framing. It's also blocking wild pitches, avoiding passed balls and to me, getting the most out of the staff- not necessarily just by calling a good game. If the guy can hit, it won't matter where he plays.
  7. Are you thinking high A?
  8. Don't build me up, just to let me drop, don't stop it now.
  9. That's how I see it, but it does seem like players often re-sign with the team they are with or traded to, so I think some see that trade as increasing LA's chance at extending/re-signing him, but yes, the signing is a separate deal and should be judged accordingly.
  10. How would posters rank the bottom 6 on the 26 & and 9 on the 40 man roster? I'd go something like this (worst first): 26: Andriese Santana Rios Wong Marwin (not going anywhere) Workman 40: Andriese (no options) Santana Wilson Rios Chavis Arauz Potts Marwin Workman
  11. The thing is, struggling players need to play to get out of a funk, and who knows what day will be the day they begin to turn things around. Some wanted Renfroe benched or platooned after the crappy April he had. Good thing Cora stuck with hm. BTW, Renfroe is... .849 last 28 days. .862 last 14 days. Others mentioned for being benched or played less often: Kike .876 last 28 days .910 last 14 .963 last 7 Dalbec .873 last 28 days
  12. Even the year we were sellers, we ended up getting ERod and indirectly, Porcello.
  13. I think they do a pretty decent job, but they seem to be far off on a few players. They update their numbers regularly. They try to capture the future productive value and balance it with contractual costs or projected costs. I doubt MLB has any influence over the values they give players. No GM would look at these numbers.
  14. Not ring years, but... How about the Manny for Jason Bay in 2008? (We got Workman as a supp pick when JB left) 2009: Masterson & others for VMart? 2010: crap for Salty 2011: several players for Erik Bedard 2012: Albers and Podsednik for Albers/ Lars for Steven Wright
  15. ...and we thought Manfred was bad...
  16. If we replaced the bottom 3 with 3 all stars, there'd be a new bottom 3 being maligned.
  17. I do think zero BTV value is very low on Kimbrel, but I do not think Bloom is going to give up any very or moderately promising prospect. One factor might be that Bloom may not value Groome or his like highly. He might be thinking he won't even rule 5 protect Groome, so if that is that case, a deal like that may not only be possible, it might be likely.
  18. Agreed. Even if the Sox got the Cubs to pay some of his contract so we don’t go over the line, I’m thinking even Groome is beyond what Bloom wants to give up.
  19. Like in the playoffs? We need a 5 man rotation to finish the season.
  20. He looked great, but it was 3 starts.
  21. 10-2 2.69 ERA (Second best ERA- in MLB at 59) 92 xFIP- (second to LAD) Offense .798 OPS (7th) .296 BAbip (19th)
  22. We're 10-4 in the last 14 days with a 2.83 ERA. 2.66 Eovaldi (20 IP) 3.00 Pivetta (18) 1.88 Perez (14) 8.03 Richards (12) 1.50 ERod (12) 0.00 Taylor (6), Workman (5), DHern (3) 1.35 Barnes (7), Whitlock 97) 1.80 Sawamura (5) 2.57 Ottavino (7) 3.00 Rios (6) 10.38 Andriese (4) Hottest hitters over 14 days: 1.049 Devers .956 Kike .903 Renfroe .873 JD
  23. Got that right. There have been several short seasons in ML history. The one that hurts me the most is the one we finished a half game behind the Tigers for a playoff berth due to a strike season and unbalanced schedule.
  24. Plus, we still fought hard. Eovaldi is still the least of my concerns over our rotation
