    That's not really an answer, and Skubal is no Crochet. Much of Crochet was unknown, and that's why he didn't get mega bucks.

    Yes. I've documented it, posted about it and suggested we go the trade route on pitchers for many years because of it. What did I say that makes you think I feel otherwise? I'd love it, if we traded for Skubal and extended him. I'm just not sure the Crochet example is evidence JH will go super larger and longer on Skubal. I have zero trust in this. That is my reason. Secondary, is the theory that trading for someone and then paying them NYM money seems like a bad idea. Just do the paying part and leave out the trade. If someone else trades for Skubal and signs him for less than NYM money, I'll admit I was wrong, but even then, I'd still doubt that JH would have got it done.

    So long ago, I'm not sure it will ever happen again. I do think there was an unspoken deal made with AGon, and they announced the signing after the season started to avoid tax implications, but I'm not sure that one counts.

    Who? JD? I think they did not want JD and Schwarber on the same roster for even just 1 year. I think the same about Masa and Schwarber, but that does not stop me from having a different opinion..

    I have zero trust JH will extend Skubal. My point is, if he agrees to extend him it will be at NYM prices, so then he can outbid them... in theory.

    Huh? I totally agree much can be lost. I'm not for signing a FA pitcher, this winter. I do not see a big risk in Skubal being a bust after we extend him. My worry is, JH won't pay enough to extend him, and if he did, then why not just outbid everyone before 2027 and keep the players we'd need to trade for him in '26.

    I agree, totally. I don't think the rookie pitchers have much trade value, anyway. My keeper order is... 1. Early 1B. Tolle 3. Fajardo 4. Valera 5. Perales 6. Clarke With experience (not counting Crochet, Sandoval & Bello) 1. Harrison 2. Dobbins 3. Crawford 4. Fitts

    Nice. Pom Pom did okay year 2, but we needed him more year 1. Allen Craig was a total bust. Kelly did okay. Lackey did much better. VMart gave us 2 good years, and masterson had like 2 good years out of 5 with CLE, I believe. (Plus we got Barnes as a comp pick for VMart, if that counts) Arroyo's deal was a total bust. Sael's too.

    Hicks is guaranteed $12+12. Any "decision" made will involve another team wanting to trade for him.

    I understand the concern, and yes, the legs are important for hitting, and more so with power hitters. I'm worries, too. I just googled it yesterday and read it is something that can be overcome, but I I'm no MD. I trust your position.

    We do know they still are not against the idea of masa playing the short corner OF position. We could trade Duran and another OF'er (probably not Rafaela or Abreu) and use Masa in the OF (gasp!) Not ideal, for sure, but it's one way to get him PAs without DH'ing. If we traded Rafaela: LF: Masa/ Campbell-Garcia CF: Anthony (Garcia) RF: Abreu (Garcia) If we tarde Abreu: LF: Masa/ Campbell-Garcia CF: Rafaela (Garcia) RF: Anthony (Garcia) More likely, we'd trade Duran and one of the RHBs: Campbell or Garcia.

    I agree on no platoon for both, but I would choose to give off days vs lefties. If I had to platoon one, I think it would be Duran. Masa and casas do not need platoons, but Romy is so damn good vs lefties, I'd do it.
