  1. I'm not for trading for any one year pitcher. See my comments on Skubal.
  2. No other team will give them that much. Why is he worth that much?
  3. I wouldn't give much. Grissom and Hicks, maybe. LOL
  4. Just a few weeks ago, you said SEA is not trading a SP'er.
  5. I gotta ask, where is this coming from? Every time I suggest a trade for a SEA SP'er, you say they aren't on the block, or they don't need so and so.
  6. Looking at some telling stats, I wonder if these guys could be trade/FA targets: xFIP (150+ IP and under 4.00) 3. Sale 2.80 (3rd in ERA-) 5. Gray 2.95 (77th ERA-) 15. F Valdez 3.22 (29th ERA-) 16. Eovaldi 3.28 (13th ERA-) 18. Flaherty 3.34 (64th) 19. R Suarez 3.44 (25th ERA-) 23. Cease 3.50 (73rd ERA-) 25. Lopez 3.51 (48th) 28. Ryan 3.56 (38th) 29, Burnes 3.59 (10th ERA-) 31. Rasmussen 3.70 (8th ERA-) 33. M King 3.70 (17th ERA-) 36. E Cabrera 3.76 (69th) 37. Lodolo 3.76 (45th) 41. Gore 3.82 (67th) 42. M Kelly 3.83 (43rd) 47. Gallen 3.90 (85th) 49. Singer 3.93 (47th) 52. Castillo 3.96 (61st) 53. Eflin 3.98 (98th) 70. M Keller 4.12 (74th)
  7. I kinda like Kevin Yakilis.
  8. I agreed, if they are flipped for Joe Ryan, YES!!!!
  9. Pablo Lopez Mitch Keller Sandy Alcantara or Edward Cabrera Nick Lodolo MacKenzie Gore Freakin' Chris Sale Maybe... Sonny Gray (add Willson Contreras for Hicks) KC SP'er? Lugo, Wacha, Bubic?
  10. He can probably play 1B better than Casas and close to the same as Alonso, but DH needs a boost in power.
  11. We don't have to, but it makes way too much sense. 1. Duran & the other 3 are worth way more to another team as OF'ers than to us a DH or rotating DH. 2. One could easily argue Rafaela's major value is CF defense, and moving him to the infield moves him into a net negative player, although his offense is probably better than DHam, if that is the only other option at 2B. 3. Trading Masa is a great idea that no other GM sees as a great idea. 4. Casas belongs at DH, too, so even if we are able to trade Masa, we should sign Alonso or Suarez to play 1B and DH Casas not an OF'er. (Keeping Casas from more chances at injury is also a reason to DH hiim. He's our best power bat, right now.) 5. Our two best everyday player prospects/graduates both look like OF is their best solution. Jh Garcia is better on D than Duran and maybe Anthony. Campbell may be the worst defensive OF'er but as a RHB with a high bat ceiling, we cannot write him off. We may not love the idea of Campbell-Garcia replacing Duran, but in reality, they'd be our 4-5 OF'ers likely playing in AAA until a FT opportunity arises. (We may bring Ref back for one more season for this reason.) We should have traded an OF'er last winter and started Anthony opening day. One could argue Duran's value was never higher. Abreu's value did not go up. Only Ceddanne's did.
  12. True. It was bigger than Peavy and Nate, in terms of who we gave up, but not as big as the others. The BIG FIVE: Pedro Schilling Beckett Sale Crochet They almost all overlapped, except for the Beckett-Sale gap.
  13. We don't have the budget to be like the Dodgers, and our long-awaited window is here, NOW!
  14. Got it. Also, I said Rafaela should not play the infield again, except for a couple days as an emergency, NOT that he never would or in unlikely to. I know Cora: he'll play him there, next year for 5-10+ games, maybe more if we don't trade an OF'er. (A longshot no trade is made.)
  15. Way back in the day, I recall deals like that being made. A timetable was part of the deal, and the other team had a few days to extend or the deal was cancelled. I was just musing about when the last time that was and kinda wondering why they don't do that anymore. Someone mentioned the Roy Halladay deal, and I think the Johan Santana and Miggy deals were like that, too. The Lindor deal was not one like this, but I think many felt a framework was agreed on before the deal was signed. That was 2021.
  16. I think the Sox demanded it, because they wanted to cut costs in a big way. LAD demanded the break even pay point. Horrible trade. My question was directed at only major trades for a SP'er. Pedro Schilling Beckett (Peavy no so big) Sale Porcello (Nate was not a big deadline package) Crochet Are there any bigger packages for lesser pitchers I'm missing? That's a pretty impressive record.
  17. Durans D has regressed where playing some DH will happen in his life. I'd rather have Duran at DH than Rafaela at 2B, although if Brez does nothing to fill 2B/3B (Mayer at the other) I could see that being a better alignment, so point taken.
  18. Skubal is clearly the best and just turned 29. JH HAS to sign him before he turns 30, or it's a no-go.
  19. In the last 10 years about the same as trade & sign agreements.
  20. I mentioned LAD a few times. I'm trying to be brief, and someone kept saying no way JH "Out bids the Mets."
  21. My question was when was the last time a deal was made depending on a deal being made. You answered with a good point, but it did not answer my specific question.
  22. Maybe saying "Much" was unknown should have been "some was unknown." especially the durability and IP level.
