Does it make a difference if the average fan does not relate to the negotiations of the wants of each side? They just want to see baseball. Who they blame, if there is no baseball, might not matter much either.

This issue and solution seems like the most obvious fix and not extremely costly solution. If the majority of players make min wage or are pre-arb, it seems easy to just please them and get a majority vote from the player. Raising their salaries by a lot would all but ensure their votes and would not really affect the bottom line all that much, except for maybe the very stingiest teams, who pay almost all their roster min or near min wage. There are more issues that need to be settled, but tis seems like an easy give by the owners.

The financial cost of JBJ vs Renfroe- not that we had to keep Renfroe, even if we did not acquire JBJ, make the fact that he may be a 4th OF'er a bit strange, UNLESS Bloom really likes the prospects and/or thought Renfroe was way over-valued.

The only year Papi led MLB in OPS was his final season. He had over 35 HRs and 104 RBI in all of his last 3 seasons!

Bloom must really like these prospects or thinks Renfroe was a negative value.

Indeed, but it's good to see some movement. I think the players gave up a big thing. Let's see what the owners respond with.

Hearing some of these owners cry poverty is a joke.

Agreed, but adjusting and swapping proposals before the big crunch time meeting is usually necessary.

That was my point to jacko. Again, they may be deeper after the top 100 or 120, but not by as much as before, and I think we passed them, overall, on the strength of our top 4-5 prospects. We also have some young prospects that could rise sharply, this summer. (Doesn't it sound nice saying, "This summer?")

Bobby D does have an .819 career OPS and a 115 wRC+. While that is not great and is not close to Youk and AGon in their prime, Bobby D might still improve. If not, maybe Casas is our next AGon/Youk.

I check in about once a week on the NBA. I see how my Bucks are doing, look over the standings and some stats, and then check out, again. Some observations as the league heads to their halfway point: 1) The West still seems stronger, as they have 4 teams with the top record in the NBA (or tied with Miami), but they drop off quickly after the top 4. 2) The East has 9 teams at .500 or better and the Knicks at 23-24. 3) The West has 7 teams at .500 and the lakers aat 23-24. 4) The West has 5 teams under .380. The East just 3. 5) The Celtics are the only NBA team with 2 of the top 18 scorers. 6) These players have over 6 Assists, 6 Rebounds and 12 Points per game: A-R-Pts 8-14-26 Jokic 9-9-26 Doncic 6-11-29 Giannis 10-8 23 Harden 9-9-19 Murray 8-8-19 Westbrook 6-8-29 James 6-6-21 Butler 6-7-11 Giddey 7-6-25 Morant 6-7-25 George 6-6-18 C Anthony
