"Pretend" was rather harsh. I do think it was a legit offer, even though they knew he would not accept, which is typical of first offers.

I liked Baez, but he was not a $25M+ guy. He did get $140M/6, so it was close. I'd say the next guy we sign large and long is Devers.

Sounds about right. Even if the players made exactly $20M each, I doubt we'd have 4 or more making that much. Three seems like the limit. Maybe just two, if $25M+. What about 10 dollar bills, 20 dollar bills, 50 dollar bills and 100's? I never equated a $5 bill as being anything special. (Ok, maybe when I was like 10.)

He is just 27, so if any player should be considered for a 0+ year deal, he might be "the one," but for reasons we have already given, he should not be "that guy" the Sox choose to go all in on. This would be a nice IF for 2022: 1B Devers 2B Kike SS Correa 3B Bogey

I'm not saying I want Bogey as our SS going forward. I'm just saying I would not choose Carlos as "the one" splurge guy we sign. His age is a huge plus, but his offense is up and down, and his health is often an issue. If he can't stay healthy at 22-26, what will he be like at 30-36?

I didn't hate Beni. I just was not thrilled by his play.

Hard to know. He might have been trying to stir up some interest.

It's hard to compare their defense. I shutter to think of Beni in RF. Renfroe in Fenway's LF would not be all that bad. I'd call Renfroe & Beni close to even. The 5 players/prospects obtained makes the deal more promising.
