  1. I'm not going to respond to anything you say. Feel free to say whatever you want, but you're not getting any discussion from me. (BTW, I never "predicted" any Bloom moves.)
  2. Am I the only one thinking Seager getting $325M/10 is insane? I'm fine with players making a ton of money, but this one seems way out of whack.
  3. It's being reported that Baez is getting $140M/6. That's just over $23M a year. I was thinking $105-110/5, but it looks like prices have risen across the board.
  4. It does look more and more like 2023 might be the "splurge winter," but I still think we'll spend a significant amount, this winter. If the reports are true, we were in on Baez to the end, then I think that shows we have at least $20M in this winter's winter checkbook. I know that's a big assumption, but I doubt all we do are Wacha -type additions.
  5. I doubt it is Story, so he’s the only one left!
  6. I really liked Baez, but it looks like we missed out. When I look at these contracts, none jump out at me as being one I wished the Sox had done. It’s going to be hard for the owners to scream for the need for parity with all these signings done by the losing teams.
  7. Not sure, but that makes the money seem right.
  8. Kirby Yates to Braves for $8.25M/2.
  9. True. I’m not against pen building. I just think building a rotation is more predictable.
  10. Too bad baseball is losing money!
  11. My eyes are toast.
  12. Show me where I said you made it up? There's no use having a discussion with you. Bye
  13. It's not easy, and you can sign the best of the best available, and still miss badly.
  14. I'm done with you. It's not a fantasy to think we could have signed ERod, Jon Gray and Iggy. Or Trade for Montas & Trivino and sign Iggy If we can sign Baez and Wacha, we can do close to what I wanted.
  15. The uniform? If Eminem wore a uniform, they'd complain?
  16. The thing is, his "guesses" are almost always negative in nature.
  17. Could be. If so, I'll still be eternally grateful to him for bringing me something I worried I'd never see. The guy is super rich. He has enough to spend big again on the Sox and do other things. Whether he does it or not is an open question. I'm not sure he will, but you seem awful sure he won't. Then, you act like it's Bloom's fault he's not allowed to spend- like he just needs to convince Henry to open the checkbook. While I have mentioned some "pie in the sky" suggestions, I usually say it's a dream on not likely reality. I am encouraged by rumors we are a finalist for Baez. If that rumor is true, it means we have a few tens of millions to spend, this winter. If it ends up being untrue, I'll still believe the spending will be back in 2023 or 2024. As it is, we'll still be a top 5-7 spending team in MLB i n 2021.
  18. Yes, like concerts, too. Are you upset that gas prices are going up while industry owners pocket billions? What are you? Some kinda commie? (Sarcasm alert)
  19. Indeed, and all the money floating around in the hands of just a select few in the world. What gets me, is how some seem to get real upset when an average Joe, who knows how to pitch, can make $130M, but pay little attention to the hundreds of billions others make- sometimes doing very little actual work.
  20. Mariners to sign Robbie Ray. Rangers going hard after Corey Seager. Seager may choose, today.
  21. Mariners to sign Robbie Ray. Rangers going hard after Corey Seager. Seager may choose, today.
  22. They'll have to settle on 2nd best for once.
  23. I'm assuming we follow the trend we've seen since Henry became owner. He spends big, re-sets the tax- often staying under for 2-3 years, then spends big again. Along the way, we stay near the tax line, so we're not penny-pinchers as some suggest. I expect the pattern to continue, but maybe the new CBA will change things.
  24. I know. They cry poverty over their own spending woes.
