  1. Who is Mr T? (LOL)
  2. I wonder, if we had sucked in 2021, would we be spending large and long, this winter?
  3. It's probably better I don't know what this means.
  4. LOL. Hard when it's stuck on the agitate cycle.
  5. 2nd rinse cycle.
  6. On spin cycle, now.
  7. Well, you projected the Yanks to blow away the Sox last year, and you knew about the GM and manager situation. Now, you pick the Sox, so it looks like you changed the way you view "team".
  8. "Cancelling" people who talk about people.
  9. God forbid, someone sees a great defensive season by our CF'er and says, "He's the best defensive CF'er I've seen!" Bring down the wrath of God, errr, I mean the washing machine!
  10. Yes, but I'm always wrong according to the washing machine. I wasn't hopeful once the 2019 season got started. How wrong I was there, too.
  11. It's a washing machine you're trying to converse with.
  12. Washing machines are not people.
  13. Yet, you persist. (with lies)
  14. I've given up responding. It's like arguing with a washing machine. First, he berates me for spewing so many suggestions and never getting any right, and then he says I need to be "brave" and get off the fence and give my opinions or predictions. I often throw out suggestions or possible actions, or something BTV accepts. Sometime, I play around on BTV and make trades that I end up giving a thumbs down. I rarely make predictions as Red says. Mostly, I give ideas I'd like to see happen, knowing damn well the chances are close to zero, yet Red acts like I'm saying it will happen. I know I'm not always super clear on saying what I want to happen, what I think could or might happen or what I think will happen, but I don't think I'm very wishy-washy or a fence-sitter. I probably give more opinions than anyone here. Opinions are not usually predictions. I give my predictions mostly in March. There are a few areas I am not sure about, and I sometimes play the devil's advocate, which may seem like I'm on both sides of an issue, but I try to be clear when doing that. I've told Red I won't respond to him anymore, but he keeps whispering to the wind.
  15. True enough. I do recall people questioning why Kike was the only player signed beyond 1 year (not counting Sawamura), and many felt we paid him too much. I hope Paxton & Wacha can do better than Richards and perez, but I'm still waiting on who replaces ERod. (Some might say Sale or Houck/Whitlock, but I think we need another significant addition.)
  16. The money would not "be all that bad," if Paxton does "real well." Did I say it wrongly? His tax hit would just be $11.7M, right?
  17. It's hard to really know Bloom's M.O. with an fat checkbook, but certainly it seems like he prefers bargains to long overpays.
  18. Another article mentions a "unique option", but did not go into specifics. If he does real well in 2023 and 2024, $35M/2 isn't all that bad, either. 2022 would be a bonus.
  19. Yes, I read this. It almost sounds like the option is for two years and not one at a time.
  20. Agreed. I still think we may get involved in a trade with one of the 4-6 teams that seem to be tanking. I know I have mentioned Montas (with maybe Trivino being added in), but there could be a lot of arms available via trade. I know building the farm is still close to the top priority, at least until we get more depth and quality added to it, so maybe my suggestion will never happen. I'm fine with keeping the farm strong, but there are a couple prospects I think we could deal, without harming the farm all that much: Duran- I like our OF as it is, and adding a 4th OF'er is usually very cheap. Downs- I don't see him as Bogey's replacement, and I know Arroyo's health is always an issue, but for some reason, I've just never been all that high on him. Together, BTV has them at over $30M value. That's aout what Montas & Trivno are worth (maybe add Ward, Potts, Rosario or Jimenez.)
  21. Trends can change on a dime- sometimes emulating the last champion's or champions' strategy. I do think this trend will continue and may even swing even more towards extended pen us before it swings back. It's one reason I wish we could get some SP'ers, so we can keep Houck and Whitlock in long relief roles in 2022. They could be a dynamic duo.
  22. Good points. I just think this signing is more about '23 & '24 and what we get in '22 is just a bonus.
  23. I wonder, if there is a buy out for year 2 and 3. soxprospects.com lists his salary at $12.5M for 2022 and 2023 with 2024 left blank. If they are accurate, maybe there is a $2.5M buyout after 2022- making it a $12.5M/1 deal, a $25M/2 deal or a $35M/3 deal- team choice. I've also read only $10M is guaranteed.
  24. So, instead of not signing healthy 30+ pitchers to long term deals, we've decided to sign unhealthy 30+ pitchers to short term deals. Lovely! The normal 12-14 month timetable might mean we get him back in July or August, but there will likely be a period for adjusting to the "new arm." I wouldn't count on much of anything from him, even in September.
