  1. I won’t disagree, but I trust Bloom to get more right than wrong. $7M seems like too much, but it’s the going rate.
  2. This move does not excite me, but let’s give it time. Renfroe, Kike and Whitlock didn’t excite me much either.
  3. So? Should I care? ERA is so passe.
  4. It’s Henry I’m not sure about. It’s about the budget not Bloom to me.
  5. Let’s hope so. I like Wacha more than Perez.
  6. I agree, or we lose more.
  7. Me, too, even at 5 years $16.5M.
  8. $7M is an expensive pots, but I have faith in Bloom.
  9. Well said, as always.
  10. "The deal is a one-year contract reportedly worth $7MM, per Alex Speier of the Boston Globe (via Twitter). That would be a raise for Wacha, who signed last offseason with the Rays for a $3MM guarantee." -MLBTR Kinda like Perez got.
  11. I would think 4 or 5 max but 3 would be nicer.
  12. Let’s not act like this will be Bloom’s centrepiece move. If it is, I’ll be joining the bash brigade.
  13. I do t disagree, but he might have higher upside at this point in time. I doubt this is someone Bloom is counting on to fill ERod’s shoes- maybe Perez.
  14. I was thinking maybe we’d trade for a pitcher like Montas and sign a Matz/Jon Gray type. Add a decent RPer and utility middle infielder and call it a day.
  15. If we traded for Montas, I’d be 100%. As our roster is right now, we’d have to move one to the rotation to have any chance at a ring.
  16. The way pens are changing, having two guys that can go 2-3 innings every 2-4 days gives us a huge advantage over many teams. Maybe both can give us many more innings, next year from the pen.
  17. He’s a FA, so I count him as off the roster, unless we replace him with him. Lol!
  18. No. I’m about 60-40 on Whitlock staying in the pen and 85-15 on Houck. Of course, if we only add one meh sp’er then those numbers will move.
  19. Best numbers 3rd time through. .673 Perez .780 Eovaldi .819 Sale (26 PA) .924 Richards 1.011 Pivetta 1.016 ERod 1.489 Houck (18 PA) 2020 (10+ PAs) .571 Perez 1.200 Eovaldi
  20. Also, maybe Houck and Whitlock can each give us 90-125 IP, next year.
  21. BT W I am not the one saying that. It’s not every pitcher either
  22. I think I’m pretty firm in wanting to acquire a top SPer so we can keep Houck in the pen. I’d rather add a Jon Gray type and keep Whitlock in the pen, too, but I’m okay with converting him to a starter. If one goes to the rotation, we better add some pen help- quality and quantity.
  23. H a p p y T h a n k s g i v i n g !
  24. Yes, but many RP'ers pitch 40-55 innings or 60, so 150-190 is close to quadruple most RP'ers. I'd like to see Houck and Whitlock stay in the pen and get between 100-120 IP, each. That would eat up the lost Ottavino and Richards pen innings. Then, add another RP'er or two to take up the some other IP'd we'd like to see replaced and improved upon. Trade for one really good pitcher and sign someone like Jon Gray.
  25. Better pitchers. Triple the innings. Quadruple the cost. Sounds good to me.
