  1. Myers. I'm not high on Mancini, anymore. He's fallen off a cliff with HOU and can't play D, anymore.
  2. You are making a strong case for why dWAR should be totally ignored.
  3. I'd really like to know who SEA would settle on for him. They may want a prospects not needed to be added to the 40.
  4. All it takes is gold paint?
  5. Maybe. I said decent, and people were ooooing and ayyying. Yes, he was always over-rated, but I think he was close to decent, early on. I won't argue if people say he was worse than decent.
  6. There was no UZR or DRS for the early part of Nomar's career, but he sucked on D, near the end. Not my eye test, only. He sucked. It wasn't even close.
  7. The ball is not a HR in 28 parks. There is nothing to dwell on. They were bitching that his exit velocity was 110, while the Astros HR was something like 90. Really? That's what they want to talk about? Yes, both games were close, but if this is what the Yanks are thinking, it is not promising.
  8. He deserved it. It's all about his hit tool, now.
  9. I think he is worth more than what BTV says he is, despite the "issues" he has, but I'd give them Abreu & Hosmer. I like him more than anyone else we have at DH, right now.
  10. Certainly not for $20M/2.
  11. I'm going on the assumption that even if we don't reset, we'll stay near the tax line, as we usually do. IMO, it also makes more sense to re-set, this year than in 2024, when devers is due, and we have more young players to improve our foundation, thereby making 2024 more of an "all in" year than 2023, but that's just my opinion.
  12. That was about the jist of Yankee bitching, last night. Pathetic. Own up. Stop sucking and maybe you can win.
  13. Nomar was a decent defensive SS, early on, but became a negative in his last 2-3 years in Boston. IMO, he was all flash. His throwing on the run, while twisting, was often not needed, but made the play look harder than it really was.
  14. No mention of what Seattle would want in return.
  15. I don't think we should spend much money on a 1Bman, but since we also could use help at DH, maybe we try to sign an aging, low-cost vet who can play 1B or maybe even 1B and RF, but primarily be the DH or platoon DH.
  16. Arroyo has done fine, when healthy. In the rotation/platoon I am talking about (not advocating for) would not really "count on him," since we have several other options to go with. One issue is we can't have 6 guys on the bench rotating at DH. It will have to be 3, with one being a back up OF'er (Refsnyder?) and one bing a back up infielder (Arroyo, when healthy or maybe EValdez) plus Dalbec or Hosmer, and since Hosmer is a lefty bat, it would likely be him. (Dalbec, Valdez & Ref have options.) I'd love to improve on our .763 DH OPS, this year, but if we can greatly improve RF, stay even at SS and see Kike return to near 2021 levels, we may be able to afford just coming close to .763 in 2022. Can this combo give us .763 or better? Hosmer v R Ref/Arroyo v L I think it's a close call. I'd love to improve on it, but we may not have enough resources to fill every wish on the wish list.
  17. Never heard so much whining and bitching by the Yanks. Sev complains about an HR that would be an HR in 25 parks and we hear bitching about Judge's ball not being a HR, despite it not being hit far enought o be an HR in 28 parks. They actually complained about the roof being open. Wah-wah-wah. How about facing the fact that no team has ever K'd 12 or more times in 3 straight playoff games. (30 times in the last 2 games.) You guys are built on an all or nothing batting philosophy that more often that not produces nothing.
  18. If you go by the best 2-3 year stretch, it's hard to beat this: .292 69 303 (142 XBHs, 238 Runs) .376 OBP/ .525 SLG/ .901 OPS 3 year: .285 98 440 (204 XBH, 352 Runs) .367/.507/.874 Nomar had the better BA and OPS, but never matched those HRs and RBIs by Vern Stephens. 1999-2000 .365 48 200 (148 XBHs, 207 Runs) .426/.601/.1.028 '98-'00 .350 83 322 (228 XBHs, 318 Runs) .404/.585/.999
  19. They have given the GG to players who play way less than the min. They gave the award to a player who played 28 games at 1B back in 1999- the rest at DH. If you go by that, I could have expanded the rankings to 60 or 90 SSs.
  20. Today's SP awards: Rookie of the Year: Luis Perales Comeback Player of the Year: Brian Mata Breakout Player of the Year: Ceddanne Rafaela
  21. Only 12 qualified on that list. He is 6th out of 12 in DRS. If you increase the sample size to 15 (one for each AL Team), Bogey placed: 5th in UZR/150 7th in DRS By far, his best season, but not top 3.
  22. Being a "caddy" does not mean taking anyone's starting role.
  23. Hosmer can take over that role.
  24. BTV is not always right. There is a reason you would trade Hosmer for Winker. Despite his trouble with the team, I think he's worth way more than Hosmer. I'd be happy, if we got him for Hosmer & E Valdez. I'd even throw in Seabold.
  25. Pretty good= GG? Was he really top 3? He's 8th in UZR/150 at 4.7 DRS has never been his friend, but he was a +4, this year. Thatw as 14th and 10 runs below the top 3. Don't get me wrong: I was thrilled to see him have his best defensive year, ever, but I don't see him as being top 3.
